Only an idiot would apply for a job like this.
$30/hr -7 days a week, 10 hr day min. 90-day commitment? WTF, are they trying to kill tree workers?

All right. Maybe I shouldn't use the word "idiot" to describe someone who would apply for this job, but seriously guys, just think about it please? I do storm work all the time, but I look out for myself and my two employees.

These conditions for employment are just not safe.

I agree with this...Really think about this before you head down. My guys made more pruning sugar maples from the ground with pole saws today than this assignment. 30 an hour is just not worth it when compared to our market rates. Might be different for some. When we do storm work I double my rates to compensate for the degree of danger and difficulty. Just my 2 cents.

10 hour days get people hurt, working more than 5 days in a row gets people hurt too. Be safe out there folks

Even doing dangerous work.....with proper training, good health, a good mind set and experience I believe you can safely work 10 hours a day for 5 days a week. Just make sure to take some proper rest days. Its a mind set. I just wouldn't do it for 30 an hour. Pay me 60 an hour and I would consider it.

$30/hr and 7 tens ? Let’s try $80/hr and 2 mama sitas waiting at the lodge ... don’t furget the filet-mignon and lobster ... good luck ... if you can find someone to work for that then HIRE him ! Lol

In the iron businesses not being a union hand is stupid. The pay difference is about $25 an hour. Plus the union companies invest in their employees. So comment on something you know about. As far as time goes you might want to work a straight eight and head to the house, but I like to make money. I can always take a rain or snow day when those are available. I usually don't work Sundays for religious reasons, but out of town I'm there to work and work only. In the iron game that check would look like this

40h @ 30ph rt 1200
20h @ 45ph ot 900
10h @ 60ph dt 600
$2700
Fwiw I was making more than that ph in vegas on the city center project on the check working 14 more hours a week + bennies in 2005

So
40h @ 32.50 rt $1300
32h @ 48.75 ot $1560
12h @ 65.00 dt $780
On check $3640.00
Bennies
84h @ 19.83ph
For insurance, retirement, vacation, and annuity
In bennies $ 1665.72

Total pay for a union hand in Vargas in 2005-6 per week

$5305.72 per week

What Rat ironhead brings that home gross? None not even the awesome ones. That pay was for every union journeyman ironworker that worked the time.

Flip to page 29 I was making gf pay as a connector so a regular jiw would make 29.60ph base pay in 2005
