A kid?

That "lesbian bald-ass chick" from MSDHS is just a kid, but what a wonderful one. A real one.

No. There's no and this isn't a debate. It's taking America back from that mentality. Forever this time.

There it is. The paranoia, and an utter unwillingness for any compromise. Guns over life. Cling to those weapons at all cost, cause the boogie-man is coming to take all your guns. How the fuck you gonna argue with that?

I grew up without the need for tighter security at school - pre-Columbine. I'd like that opportunity to be available for my grandchildren (it will not be available for my son, unfortunately).

The "voucher" system is good-old-boy-ish. You can trust the veteran with your kids (which I respect), but everyone else in your community doesn't share that knowledge of his reliability. They should be able to stay in control of who has guns around their kids, and be able to have the choice to not have guns around their kids.

If I were to protect my loved ones at all costs, I'd either march against all gun rights (because proximity to guns is a massive predictor of getting shot...), or build a bunker with attack drones, infrared-sensing machine gun turrets, and maybe some nucs. Maybe we can find something in the middle? A third option?

It was time for mt to take a civics class.

What is the Bill of Rights? how have each of the Amendments been interpreted over the centuries? Has the original intention and spirit of the original ratifiers been kept?

Wow...lots to learn about the other nine. Too bad the others aren't as thoroughly dissected

You make an excellent point.

Having to fight an overreaching government, the framers made sure to include provisions to keep the Spirit Clear.

It’s really that plain.

Wasn't the Maryland shooter just angry with his ex girlfriend and her new guy? Didn't realize he was out to get everyone else... In his place, I'd have shot at the resource officer too (not saying it was okay) - there's no laying your gun down for mercy in this climate. That's not a "rahe against the machine" mass shooting, to me... Not sure how it figures in to the broader debate.

For starters, whether his intent was singular or not, he endangered many more students.

That example shows how a capable SRO that isn’t commanded to not do their job ends the threat.

Why isn’t that getting coverage?

No...its not plain...look at the Supreme Court interpretations over the years.

Does anyone's Ouija Board have a view back to the original writers intentions?

If so...we'd go back to whatever 'state of the art' weaponry was available to the 'well regulated militia' and sell those at gun shows.

I don’t have a crystal ball, but I’m pretty sure both sides had the same stuff.

@hseII I share your concern about trusting the government. Unfortunately, the citizenry has gone amuck as well - they're instigating many of these shootings. Who then to trust? Isn't there middle ground? Don't we all have to get there after defining the goalposts for this debate? The goalposts are now defined, clearly. The shootings are continuing. It seems time to lay down the cards and get this done.

Non-mass shootings are common, aren't they? It's not a mass shooting. No intent to mass shoot. Mass shootings get more coverage. Not saying that's a good thing, but if we are apples-to-appling...
