#enough

@hseII I share your concern about trusting the government. Unfortunately, the citizenry has gone amuck as well - they're instigating many of these shootings. Who then to trust? Isn't there middle ground? Don't we all have to get there after defining the goalposts for this debate? The goalposts are now defined, clearly. The shootings are continuing. It seems time to lay down the cards and get this done.

There are too many coincidences with these shootings.

Shooting after shooting, the Local & Federal Government failed to do their jobs.

Most of these shooters were known, some well known, by authorities & nothing was done.

How is it possible in the 21st Century, someone can make multiple claims of desiring to be a School Shooter on a platform as big as Youtube, the FBI be contacted & made aware, & nothing happen?

Local Authorities visited the family & him a total of 37 times.

The 1st Officers on the scene were ordered to stand down.

There have been reports of the Secret Service being on the scene just a few weeks prior- I don’t know if this has been proven so I don’t completely buy it.

The Agreement with the School System & the Local authorities to not report crimes in order to keep their violent numbers low so more $$ would come flowing in.

The Sheriff’s political affiliations & how he was so polished after such a tragedy.

There’s just too much smoke.

Surely you must have something better to do than once again attack a kid who is still in High School. Geez, no wonder you need all those guns to feel safe.

You have officially lost your shit bro. Time to bust out the tin foil!

So both sides get muskets and flintlocks...three rounds per minute...done deal

Oh...and rocks

Some have made the argument, bordering on the frivolous, that only those arms in existence in the 18th century are protected by the Second Amendment. We do not interpret constitutional rights that way. Just as the First Amendment protects modern forms of communications, e.g., Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union, 521 U. S. 844, 849 (1997), and the Fourth Amendment applies to modern forms of search, e.g., Kyllo v. United States, 533 U. S. 27, 35–36 (2001), the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding."." ~ the Supreme Court of the United States in _District of Columbia v. Heller_, October 2007

But it seems that the 2A crowd wants to go back to the words. If so, then stay there and use the same weaponry...and define 'a well regulated militia'. The 2A crowd wants it both ways
Again,

These people, with this mentality, want to control what guns you may have. While complaining about over regulation causing a lack of available abortion clinics.

Now my head hurts. The second I see legal citations my eyes get bleary and I start to get distracted by more interesting things. Like how much a paper clip weighs or the shapes the bricks above my fireplace can make. :tonto:

Kidding. I know it's a necessary argument.

I think that using this information as evidence that there was failure to do the job is taking it out of context. They may receive similar profiles all the time. I think you might be right, too, but I just feel there is a lack of context.

The 1st Officers on the scene were ordered to stand down.

Hmmm... I'm not up on this development. I didn't realize they were ordered to stand down. I just heard that a handful of them were videod staying put outside, as though they were scared. Makes me have a bit more faith if they were on orders.

Maybe their guns were too small to take on an assault rifle, or a force of unknown strength? Was there really no reason for it? Clearly it was a "swat team" issue rather than a street stop issue. If they had billy clubs and tasers, would we expect them to press the issue?

There have been reports of the Secret Service being on the scene just a few weeks prior- I don’t know if this has been proven so I don’t completely buy it.

What's it mean, too? I don't even know their mandate. Seems like FBI turf...

The Agreement with the School System & the Local authorities to not report crimes in order to keep their violent numbers low so more $$ would come flowing in.

That is disturbing, and sounds plausible. These bureaucracies get caught in the worst self-preserving feedback loops.

The Sheriff’s political affiliations & how he was so polished after such a tragedy.

Not acquainted with all this yet. What are the affiliations (I can look them up if you prefer)? He should be polished. This is shooting number... whatever. Every sheriff should have a sound bite ready for mass shootings.

There’s just too much smoke.

Yep. I understand you're applying that to the Parkland shooting, and I would guess we would both say that it's true about this whole societal debate that's going on now. When we all look back on this point in history, there will be a lot of clarity (although history is still a dialect between the material of the past, constraining the re-interpretations by those in the present...). The present will always be boring or smoky, and we've got smoke for now.

Yes,
They were ordered to stand down.

It was reported on CNN.

The agreement between the School System & the Local Police.

I like case law.

Looks like this thread is winding down for the night. Y'all work safe out there tomorrow and stick together even if we've got to bicker. Like Hillary said, "stronger together."
Me too, when the decision goes the way I want. Otherwise the judges suck, right? I'm as guilty of this as anyone.

Lol. Judgements do actually suck sometimes. Some of the supreme court judgements from the deep past look ridiculous. Wonder if citizens united will look like that in 50 years...

That little bit quoted by @hseII makes me feel like there is some consistency in the matter.

Yea, David Hogg bad. The Woman's March bad. A Woman's Right to Choose bad. Gun Control bad. National Walkout day bad.

For someone who swears he's not attacking the kids from Parkland, you sure are attacking a kid from Parkland an awful lot.

You know who's not a positive role model. Donald Trump. The idiot fucked a pornstar (Stormy) without using a rubber. No Shit!
