DRT

My intention was to not be confusing...I didn't do a good job.
Maybe DSRT would better.
Example being an 80 foot tip, use 200ft of bluemoon with a base tie to climb SRT with a RR. Then along the lines of this tread add another line base tied with another device BDB, RR, etc. using two 100ft sections of Tachyon joined together.
Thoughts?

I tie ropes together all the time. thats the nice thing about stationary rope climbing. You don't have to worry about passing knots so 2 100 foot ropes is just as useful as one 200 foot rope in most occasions. Im pretty sure I have combined three ropes together before to make sure I have enough rope to make all my redirects. that probably involved forgetting ropes though. I don't want to have the knots in my climbing path, and make sure they can get through any crotches so they retrieve.

What knot do you prefer when tying them together?

I used the EDK forever even before I knew the name. Once I heard the name, I thought, that makes sense because it is the death of me to untie it. What am I missing?

I have been climbing drt since I posted that pick, that's like two weeks, and it is nonsensical how quickly I have come to feel insecure about hanging from a single rope.
Never mind the capabilities that come along in large, spreading trees.

I have had that feeling before, but it's totally a state of mind...just like hanging 100' above the Expo floor, right???!!!:bailando:

I just thought Kevin said it was ok to use both SRT and I was sure both did not approve SRT use. I wouldn't use either with a wrench(and Ive owned both) but i do use a wrench with my hitch climber set up some.. As far as using two ropes all the time for tree work, I think using a lanyard when doing any cutting, chainsaw , handsaw even a pole saw could serve to be a good idea as a 2nd attachment point. But other wise I just don't see Drt being very practical, efficient or profitable-but could be possibly safer.
This thread and post from 2014 ...recently, three years later ..and previosly I've seen numerous pics with climbers with a wrench over the zag is this accepted? ....As far a doing it all the time with two lines . It's really quite easy and non cumbersome with good insight and forethought.. I've been practicing this style almost exclusively and I can honestly say it's increased efficiency and profitability. Hasn't effected me by making my climbing any worse because I rely on another line...My balance is still catlike and I can shinny up a lead if needed but that to me seems lame and like more work, when I can forward one line to new anchor point while tied in still with the other and go up or out to it with ease ... Im not picking you out Jimmy your post had alot to offer when i red it and i wanted to UNDERSTAND the point about the wrench over zigzag or no wrench going up stationary line which is bullshit ..as well the comments about practicality of Dual stationary lines.. For me it's hard to understanD ...It's dope and easy once practiced a bit..I kinda jumped on this thread late and didn't read all these pages so I'm here now and I'm wondering if all's feeling s are the same since 2014..I'm in no way telling any person to climb with two if they don't want, certainly don't want regulations from folks who don't have a clue , but it's been awesome for me and I love it and will promote it for the positives it creates in the crown. Then again I do this with dual bulldogg bones so technically to bureaucrats I'm cheating or not right cause they PROTOTYPES! ? Can o worms ,thank you DOCTOR!
Again Jimmy I know I replied to your post ,but I am just talking ,I hope amongst friends...

No, separate bridges is essential I discovered for DRT otherwise the two ropes are hard to keep straight
I tried a swivel tree for awhile, then switched to independent bridges saw it favorable for unclipping and passing around red is..As well when a mix up of the lines position starts it is more easily straightened out this way. As well as the total redundancy forgot to add that even though it May be the biggest contributing factor

I’m off the swivel also, instead I have 3 rings on single bridge. Center is primary, use the right and left when needed. Much cleaner for me, but no back flips

Gotta have backflips. Gotta!

Nah, it’s all about efficiency. The swivel tree has its benefits and drawbacks. I dig it most for the ability to make uninhibited use of a single swivel. Two attachments got me wishing back for the feeling of being on just one system, while still on two. Guess I just geek on it.
