Flex you gonna have a baby on that comode in your avatar if I tell you The 11.7 s aren't super bone friendly for a 200 lb man . It'll be sneaky though. Creep in a pinch. I don't know if any of what I just said applys to yourself , but your avatar is great . I was gonna get frank Zappa tattooed on myself in a similar pose ,but then I sobered up.

Thanks Eric I was starting to get a little frustrated but I am sure its just a rope issue or maybe my bone is a little narrower . I can usually just jump on any new system full bore and bombs away from day one..

seemed like the 11.7 was the favorite flavor. who is running vortex? any mods that are changing cake into ice cream cake?

I'd bet new bone no bollard or 1/2 bollard on vortex good . new bone tachyon or km3 5/8 bollard good . 11.7 with 3/4 or pinto spacer mmmm not so much . Maybe . I'm sending Gordon ( surveyor) a piece of 11.7 to play on . Get your bone in hand play with it . You seem like you'll work it out Flex.

I am one. Vortex is at the top end of what will work well with the BDB. I altered mine quite a bit for it to work the way I wanted it to on Votex but since then Gordon has made some of the same changes on the new Bones, so it should be good. Just let him know what rope you are planning to use. You could get a higher degree of performance most likely with a slightly thinner rope but Vortex is such a great rope for tree work. For myself, I look at all aspects of performance of a system and I'll stick with Vortex.

I'm trying a vortex mod that I think has great potential.
I have replaced the bottom friction link with a single pin to hold the bottom arms to the spine (allows for adjustment in the width of the gap between the two arms and even the spine thickness).
It also let's you increase the space between the friction pin (slick pin) and the spine.

In effect it gives you unrestricted adjustment for rope diameter.

I haven't tried it weighted yet and the gap in this mock-up needs to be adjusTed. 20150208_225352.webp

Would love to see how that works! That bone is ancient

Looks like a great idea, TreeGongFu!
