Compact Bulldog Bone

Ok I am derailing a bit here. How cold is it where all you other boners are working. I was out in about ten degrees today. But last week we had a day that was in negatives. Bone works fine.

Gordon, you have any info on cold limits? Are they so low that I never have to worry, or would you recommend not using the bone past a certain temp?

Good question Mac, I have no real idea about a minimum cold temp., other than Worhaug!
I know the link manufacture rates the links safe to bear a working load up to 300 degrees .

oceans - are you showing off that you have to BDB's? Do you do a 3-1 on both at the same time?
Showing off? Perhaps, but they're totally Franken-bones...nothing as good looking as what most guys are running. :) If I were to set a 3:1 in DSRT, it would most likely be on one line, but I imagine it would be easy on two (3 wrap prussic, HMS biner, 2 tails). Just haven't done that...yet.

I have never weighed myself with all my gear on but I weight 158 out of the shower. I like the 5/8" bollard. I do like the light touch it gives and it has always grabbed and held when needed.
It just light be time to change up your avatar, David! :)

FullSizeRender.webp Hello Bones Brigade ! Thanks for a great thread and thanks to Gordon for making such a cool tool! I've got less than 20 hours on mine but am finding it very interesting. This morning I went to my local park for a reccy and played with the different sized spacers, finally going for the smallest one. I got finger tip operation this morning, grinning from the mountain tops and jumping through the branches. At first I operated it like the Unicender, hand spread from top to bottom and felt slightly unnerved that I wouldn't stop on speedy descents, now I hold the top bar only, moving it up and down to modulate speed and eventual stop, very comfortable with one hand leading into the jump and one on the Bone. My rope is Liros 'Reef', down as 11.7 but much thinner, comparable to Blaze but with a more robust circular cross section. One more thing, the guys here are finding the name a mouthful, any ideas for a shortened Japonized name??!

BDB

Got my bdb yesterday and it looks great . Hope to get to play with it today . Have vortex here at my house but plan on running it on cougar puke. Anything I need to be aware of other then low and slow. Keith

The BDB is a simple and straight forward tool with an easy to learn and modulate release. The only thing I would recommend is if it doesn't feel quite right, don't be afraid to experiment with the different sizes of bollards.
