Compact Bulldog Bone

I went back to the stock (5/8 I think) bushing in both of mine and have them set on the inner pivot point for Vortex. They work great, getting the rope in and out is something you have to get used to with Vortex. All though I just made my rope entry scallops slightly bigger and longer this morning to help with that.

ML, I know you love your Vortex, and I know where you're coming from with that - I promise!
But if you have the funds, try some Tachyon with the bone. For some reason with me, the 'hands' issue doesn't apply when I'm using the BDB, so the thinner rope isn't a big deal...even though it always has been for me, with other climbing systems at least. I guess I've just learned to use my legs, IDK.
But I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. If not, you'll have some good light rigging rope. :) Hell, I'll buy it from you if you don't like it. Anyway, just a thought...

Tachyon is a great rope and people should most certainly experiment with different setups to determine what works best for them. However, Vortex can work well with the BDB with just a few minor tweaks and those are only needed if you are fussy. For tree work, there will always moments were gripping the rope and holding your body weight will be necessary. Less often as you get better at SRWP but needed nonetheless. My hands are not what they used to be and having something as easy to grip as Vortex helps, a lot.

Took a test ride at home with vortex and my old saddle. The bone worked great so far. Did not have a pantin at the house but made it work. Can't wait to really use it with my work gear. Was wondering what the best chest attachment is for a tree motion saddle to advance it. Had no problems with it grabbing but I only weigh a 145 lbs.

I use a e2e with a dmm xsre biner around my neck. Works good if u find one that works well with ur bridge length. May have to adjust ur bridge. I think there are better ways out there to advance it though

I agree, but....the Vortex just didn't seem to work 100% with the foot and knee ascender. It seemed like I was struggling more on the ascent. IDK, maybe I need to give it another try. It was just so much easier with Tacky though.

I agree TL, the Vortex can be a little pesky at times. However did you ever hear about the 2 bulls and the heard of females down in the pasture, lol. Running there is not always the best when there is more than one thing to do.

My offer still stands, I'll buy it from you if you're not satisfied. :)

BTW, I know that joke. Lets don't run down there and get one, lets walk down there and get them all.

Try to send the user named 'swingdude' a PM and ask about his chest harness. It's RAD! I strongly recommend it for any serious SRWP climber. You can also look into the thread called 'sash style system tender' and see what some other good ideas are out there. Swingdude's tender is great when you want to stop mid-ascent and eat a sammich...you can just lean back and chillax.

Oceans, you and your sammich's
I'm gonna have one every ten pages. :)

I was thinking about a T-shirt design too...anyone remember the club called CBGB's in NYC? Well, if Gordon is willing, we could make a CBDB shirt with the same font that the club used. Maybe a silhouette of a Bone on the back? That and a Bones Brigade design that draws on the old skate designs. Maybe a skeleton ripping out of the shirt with a Bone in its mouth? I don't know, just brainstorming dumb stuff on a cold rainy day while building my chip/dump trailer.
