Compact Bulldog Bone

I just bought the Compact BDB and was wondering if you can convert it to an adjustable rather easily. I would be just changing the top arm wouldn't it.
The Compact work good but I think the Adjustable would be better to go from 11.7 Yale to the Tachyon. I was under the impression that the adjustable wouldn't work with the Yale Aztec i.e poison Ivy. I will have to see it I can fun the same bollard on both ropes.

I do make the adjustable top arm assembly, which can be installed on any standard Bone. Out of stock right now, but parts are on order.
Thanks Gordon I don't know if I will go that route I will have to see how this Tachyon performs if the same bollard can be used I will stick with what I have. But let me know when the parts come in and what the price would be.
Thanks
Ted

I made my bdb a few years ago, 7000 series alu. I integrated the tending point to the top link by making the spacer oblong with two holes. I run a swivel on my shoulder strap, rope tending starts at about 6 foot off of the ground. Instead of using taper pins on the open links I put a little dab of weld of the holes to keep the side plates from ever slipping off the end of the shaft. Also the top and bottom arms have notches that the friction links rest in, even if the side plates of the links are open all the force will not be applied to the riveted pin. see the first picture

You know Gordon?

I've been running Gordon's newest version of the bone with adjustable arms. It is amazing on yale 11.7 . The line in which I had most trouble awhile back. Not no more ! I marvel at what the bone has done for me. It's unprecedented!! Thanks Surveyor!!

The adjustable bollard is really useful, I can work it on a 10.6mm access rope.
I worked a dead wooding job, I climbed, another person set anchors and I went from the 10.6, to an 11.7, then in to a 11, db, parallel core, nothing stood in the way ! It made for smooth work.

Folks, this has probably been mentioned long before the 208th page, but how does the BDB fair on 11mil HTP? If i were to need to bomb down or just bomb down (not on a regular basis of course) would I come to a rather sliding stop or a abrupt one? I am roughly 180# with a saw and all my kit. maybe 170 if i don't eat breakfast

Superb! I need to convert my BDB upper arm to adjustable.

Your post prompted me to come up with a BDB slogan: "Adjust the device to the rope, not the rope to the device".

And also wanted to mention how pleased I was the other day when I made a return/traverse from one side of a wide crowned white oak to the other, how quickly I could reverse the direction of the BDB on rope and convert it to DdRT functionality when I needed it.

Some arms come with screw heads perfect for a chainsaw wrench, others do not. Gordon, it is super helpful to have the screw head fit tools we carry on site. Chainsaw wrench compatible please !

My personal preference is the black oxide coated stainless steel philips head, but any head type (10-32) can be used as the adjustment screw.
