Compact Bulldog Bone

Gordon is it possible to make a bdb to work on smaller diameter lines. Like 9 through 11mm , possibly?? Maybe this has been asked before in this monster thread and I missed it.

Depending on the climbers weight and density of the rope, I would say the adjustable Bone would work on 11mm and possibly smaller, the release becomes sketchier the smaller the rope. The Lynx would perhaps be a better choice, but that is a work in progress, and I have no time to work on another project right now.

Im 240 and climb on 11mm kernmaster with the ABDB, never been happier. Plenty of grab, no resistance on tending.

I have a loaner bone. It's of the non adjustable type, metal nubbins on the upper arms. I do love ascending with it, but it's a touchy beast. It feels like the lower arms are doing all of the work, pinching too hard and the upper is hyper sensitive at times.
It came with the medium bollard installed, so I assumed it needed to do be doing more work to take the pinch off the lower arms. It would engage but only after the lower arms would slip a little. I didn't like this so I installed the largest bollard. While this works a little better, I still feel that the lower arms are working too hard. I can hardly get it to release (both bollards) and then bam I plummet. It seems to be on or off, I have gotten a very slow creeping rappel, but nothing in the moderate relm.
Right now I have yale luna(? or the orange tan yale)
11mm Kern
and Imori.

I am looking for this to be a good all around device... It doesn't need to preform awesome for every rope, but I'd like it to work for what I have. I am not one to buy a rope just to get it work in a devise..

I haven't had any luck with imori in mechanicals. Can't say about the others
I tried tachy yesterday, and it was a little better. It feels that I have to squeeze fairly hard to get it to release into a creep, and I want to go faster so I just put a smidge more pressure and plumet..

Evo, I'm not sure how you are operating it but if you brace your palm on the lower arms and squeeze the top arms with your fingers you get more control.

I used to get a bounce/release feedback loop with tachyon. It wasn't my favourite bdb rope but it worked.

11mm Kernmaster was a disaster. I tried everything to stop the creep.

I've never tried imori.

I know you don't want to buy a rope but I think the Samson 11.8 voyager would work well with the b db.

I think I used tachyon for a bit. I have had the best luck with Samson vortex. I would encourage you to not give up. It took finding the right rope combo for me to really get moving on bdb or runner, or akimbo. Months of trial and error to get just right

Evo, The Tachyon you have may release nicer with the mid size bollard with the Bone you have rather than the large bollard. Your Bone has a groove machined in the top arm which is 5/8" wide and the Vortex suggested would be a better choice. The adjustable Bones have no groove in the top arm and so, along with the adjustable bollard, allow the top arm to be tuned better to the rope size.

Ok about to drop some $ on a rope. KMIII or Sterling HTP... Which one? 11mm or bigger? FYI, I'm a light weight of 165-170 without gear (and a minimalist)

If you are considering KMIII you may want to consider waiting till June if you can. I believe a new rope in the KM line is coming out. Xstatic is the name I think, it's a slightly larger diameter.

I just bought the Tiger Blood from TS it bites very well haven't put it through a good test yet. Rain Rain and more rain. It's one thing to work in the rain but another testing gear!!
