Compact Bulldog Bone

The 7/8" long bollard was intended to go on the top friction pin, but made the rope harder to install there. since I have been installing the taper pins there I have quit including that bollard. I think yours came with the Bone because I sent a few out with the long bollard and the taper pins. As for getting the taper pin out, that is a good question. The taper pins are essentially press fit, but will be difficult to press out as access is limited, a custom press might work (which i do not have).

Ok Thanks for the info Surveyor. Sounds like I might need to switch ropes. What size KMIII works best in the bone?

Done - thanks for your advice Gordon. It was quite something to see the chain link pin (as it braced on the steel vice as I hit the Taper Pin further in) put slight indentations on the anvil part of the vice - I know that the bone is strong - though it is quite something to see... I bent the Taper Pin slightly sideways as I was hitting - but just hit it from the other side and it 'righted'. In the far right photo I think you can see tiny slivers of metal at the side of the Taper Pin entrance that resulted from hitting it in - Am I correct? I don't want to mess with it any more now.

Finished the 'thumb loop' length, tail and storage (doesn't interfere with the bone operation at all).

The Chain links are very high quality carbon steel, hard and tough, but not brittle. You should consider using a fine file or sand paper, to smooth the top of the taper pin, as it also looks slightly splayed.
I see you have your hand tether tucked away through the top joint link, that should work, just keep us informed. Thanks. Gordon

Here's one for you @wyattspruck, I did a large White Pine removal today, and my device got sticky. So I washed my bone in the shower...

I bet you were really pitching a tent while you washed your bone @Worthaug

If you keep it up, you'll go blind.

They don't make razors for shaving your palms.

Thats a good tip...thanks Reed. Peanut butter for sap on skin works pretty stellar as well.

On a side note, I have been back on the Bone pretty much full time....and I love it. Pony tail redirect Heaven.
When you Pony Tail, you ever let the fall of line run inside the front of the Bone as to keep it off the backs of your fingers? I do this on the Spar all the time because I'm generally using my tail to unlock the Running Bowline, but not always in the canopy.

If I have, I think it was probably by accident : )

These days I use a kind of 'monkey tail' with the sirius multi-sling for spar work, which I like quite a bit. I could see that working perfectly using the running bowline on the spar. I have a feeling you have a whole drawer full of tricks I don't know about...but need to know about. I smell a rec climb

Eric doesn't really "rec" climb... he works at a slighlty lesser pace than when he's working.
