Oh, well good thing I don't smoke!![]()
You know what they say, Dave...whoever smelt it, dealt it!Okay you Goofy Gumdrops, the phrase goes like this!
" if you love your work more than anything, you'll never work a day of your life"!!! Now, why does it smell like brussel sprout farts on this thread? Oceans?
He don't rec climb he wreck climbsEric doesn't really "rec" climb... he works at a slighlty lesser pace than when he's working.

7/16" KMIII: 3/4" BollardI can't smell it...Not anything smelled here. Nope. Nothing.
But anyway. The Compact Bulldog Bone is awesome!
Which bollard are people using with KM III 1/2"?

I think I'm just as lazy as you! I haven't changed from the 5/8 either. I have Imori, Tachyon, and I got the KM III 1/2" for the Runner, but found the Bone isn't as sweet on the KM III (its a lot harder on the release)...my favorite for the Bone is definitely the Tachyon out of my few ropes. I should try the vortex! I need to replace my Tachyon anyway. I never want to change anything on the Bone 'cause it worked so well out of the box for me I didn't want to mess with anything.I used the same bollard I used for tachyon. I think that's the 5/8. But as the rope broke in it got less responsive. I use the kmiii with the runner now and vortex with the bone. I love that vortex. I have never changed the bollard on my bone because I am lazy and hate throwing out cotter pins. So I just find ropes to work with it.

The reason I haven't bought any is the diameter. I have really been enjoying the fatter ropes. And not sure I can go back. Used tachyon the other day for a hot second, and there was a noticeable difference to me.Try cougar

I rarely grab rope with my small hands. Always carry a petzl basic...The reason I haven't bought any is the diameter. I have really been enjoying the fatter ropes. And not sure I can go back. Used tachyon the other day for a hot second, and there was a noticeable difference to me.

Definitely. I use it a a hand ascender, no tether, not for life support.Reed, you fine the Basic works well on Cougar 11.7mm climbing rope?
"Petzl Basic Ascender for use with single ropes between 8 and 11 mm"
It's just the basic with a petzl speedy link to attach a DMM revolver for 3 to 1 limbwalk returns. Takes up less room in the belt than a hand ascender and I had it laying around from an old rope walker setup. Thanks Reed
And is this the Super Sender or just the basic? And why instead of a hard asender?

How would you descend on that?CONFESSIONS OF A NOT QUITE THERE YET SRT GUY
Ok. So I can see the benefits of SRT. Maybe a couple of times a month Ive gotta do a big 'meat-on-a-string' ascent, I'll tie a bight-bowline about 2 feet from my eye splice, maillon that onto the other leg and haul that right up into the tree. Then I go straight up until I can reach the eye-splice hanging there, clip it on, and I'm right back onto doubled ropes. I know, Im a pussy. I just haven't seen guys working the tree on a single leg, to me its just a crazy thing that happens on the internets, you know..
Anyways Ive had my bulldog bone for maybe 6 months now. I do love it, but lately I'm going to the unicender more and more because it just swaps back to doubled rope so much easier. It got me thinking, Id really like to clip the splice onto the upper arms of the bone, where the black rubber things are. I reckon the rope pulling up here will only help the device grab better, just like the uni (which is a genius device IMHO. the bone is smaller tho, and Ive got one in my kit which doesn't earn its keep). So.. are those upper arms strong enough? say I captured the splice between em with a slic-pin or something. I know it'd have to come out to get the other side of the rope in and out. Have any of you guys tried / thought of this? DO I maybe need to ask Mr Gordon for some thicker upper arms?
thanks & best

I am going to have to go out and see for myself, but I would think that constant upward force on the nub end of the upper arm would lock it off when weighted. It would act more like a cam and only release if you were standing with your weight off the system.CONFESSIONS OF A NOT QUITE THERE YET SRT GUY
