Compact Bulldog Bone

Dmm on the bones and the ZZ, petzel on the Zillion and the ID, ISC on the redirect rings and the bottom of the Uni unless im in a loop then it's running naked on the rope.

People, if you haven't tried a RockO at some point in time... you will never know what you are missing. So, make the decision now whether you want to switch all of your carabiners over to RockOs...because once you have one in your hands there is no going back.

I have one of those... with the ORCA lock gate. Nice carabiner, but the shape isn't very oval so it's on a lanyard, now.
The PIRATE with the wiregate at the bottom is also nice. Gotta love the Rock Exotica stuff... very clean, precise machining.

Last weekend I was able to try out the Bone on an elm that I trimmed some dead wood out of.

First I tried it with my Sterling Tendril (11.1mm). No good. Was like a light switch - on/off. I ended up taking a wrap on a biner below the BDB to provide a little more friction for descents. Gordon suggested that it wouldn't be a good matchup because of the diameter. Maybe I could monkey around with the bollard and get used to it, but after trying my second rope I don't see the point.

Second rope was a 12.5mm PMI Unicore static that they are just launching into the rescue market. I was given a short sample as a dealer and threaded it up and it was a religious experience. Smooth as butter on descents. Very nice combo.

Next weekend I'll try it out on a Bluewater Safeline rescue static rope and I'm expecting good things from that as well.

I only was in the tree for a few hours, some of that in the rain, but I'm incredibly impressed with Gordon's invention. Great job, Surveyor!!

A few pictures follow.

Ripped mine up on Yale safari the other day. Really like that rope, it ran really well thru the bone. I'm a Yale 11.7mm guy, but that line didn't feel much noticibly smaller and seems to stay round better. Ran them with the same bollard

I don't have the bone, but I love my 11 mil htp with the wrench. Would flying the bone with this rope be possible or are they not compatible ?

I don't know Jem. I have an HTP in 11mm and it is not as 'squishy' as the Tendril. If I get a chance I'll throw it in a tree tomorrow night and give it a go for you. I'm thinking it is going to be pretty touchy. Perhaps as I get more familiar with the BDB I'll be better able to control it with thinner lines, but I am not sure it will be worth the time. The larger rope feels better on the hands as well.

I'll let you know.

Thanks knothead that information would be great. The bdb's on off capabilities have me wanting to pull the trigger so badly but the efficiency of a more static line for srt ,I feel, could outweigh this. I weigh around 190 with gear on but no saw... And, yes, the hands appreciate every extra millimeter
