Compact Bulldog Bone

Tico, You could try the bronze bollard, just check for wear with each use. It seems that with the Bone 11mm is the lower limit (only with very light weight) depending on the rope manufacture; and 13 mm is the upper limit, depending on the rope manufacture.
I will try later...however, the impression with the rope I have is that it engages too much in the lower arm...I remember a video a couple of pages ago where there's someone showing the bone on the rope going up and down first with no body weight and then attached to the harness with weight...mine does not perform like that...the lower arm catches too much and it's always to an angle close to vertical than horizontal...but I don't know if it's good or bad...what I'm saying it's far to performing like the guy in the video...I'm going to look for the video and paste it if I find it. I removed the d ring and I'm going to sew some webbing for tending like some buddies had already!!! I think it's a good idea...so at the same time I make more room for the link to swivel far back without hitting the ring for easier rope setting. I also tried as you said without any bollard, but it's a no no...it slips badly meeting dangerously every time with the lower arms...little by little i will get there and maybe when i get the new rope it will be another story...

It's John Kays'...

Mac, if you decide to snub nose the bone; I highly recommend those rubber bumpers I posted earlier in this thread. They are super comfortable. I'll send a few (I have too many) with your haas 2.0 connection point for you spurs (you have to modify it again though);)

Mac it looks like the corrosion resistant links are standing up to use well?

Mike I am thinking of using those rubber bumpers for my next batch, how are they standing up to wear and tear?

Proudly made in the USA

So far so good Gordon. They are soft, yet tough. I did away with the "inverted rubber grommet" I had on the swivel links and found some rubber strips on Mcmaster that fit perfect. The shorter arms and all that rubber truly makes it operable like a hitch. I couldn't be happier with my set-up

Treestuff has Cougar Grey and Orange in stock and when i asked a few days ago, they are expecting the Blue later this month.

I'm a big fan of the Yale 11.7's which are all color variations of the same rope. I happen to have Aztec in both the green and orange. It performs well with the 3/4" bollard. I haven't noticed any milking with it. I feel it is easier to moderate my descent speed with the Aztec than with Tachyon.
maybe because it is slightly wider? (0,2 mm.)

So yes, the difference is on the lower arms...when John has the upper and the lower arms meeting, the bone slides down with no drag...mine won't do that...it stays put and you have to apply some force separating them a little with two hands to make it slide down...a little skinnier rope will do...I'm not going to mod the bone to adapt it to my rope which is mostly for rigging and rescue and it takes a lot of effort to put and take off from the bone. Plus it's not spliced and every knot is too bulky if I intend to use it with my zigzag!!! 13mm of steel cable like rope is what I have and when I bought my first gear I didn't have anyone to ask...Rome in summer is a desert and 80% of the stores have a sign saying "Chiusi Per Ferie". Close for summer holidays!!! (July and August are the worst).

From what I read I can see the Tachyon which is a 11.5 works well with the 5/8" medium bollard, and the Yale 11.7 is good with the bigger 3/4" bollard...with the same bone??? Maybe not?
Same bone tico ..just have to swap bollard accordingly ..due to the different ropes construction differences.. I have been on a 1/2 inch rated line that's more like 12.5mm 12 strand construction recently with 5/8 bollard . That moves up down like in johns vid as well.

I was fortunate to have ropes that worked really well with the bone right off. I really like the Tachyon with 5/8 bollard (shown in video). It has also been working well with the Imori 12mm with the same 5/8 bollard. I actually haven't played around with different bollard sizes as it is working smooth with the 5/8. I can't wait to climb more... been really busy with other stuff at the moment.

Well, I'm a little undecided...Tachyon, yale 11.7 or cougar blue (still out of stock)?
