Climbers for Christ

The problem I have with your statement that 'humans are not basically good' is that your religion, including your god..............

..............are creations of humans. No evidence of a god being involved.

No human would have invented the truths of the Gospel. They are vastly different than what "religion" says. Religion says, "I have to earn my way to heaven." Christianity says, "By grace you are saved, not of works." Grace is UNMERITED favor.

Me ashamed of the Gospel? LOL!!! Hardly. The people Jesus preached to most during his 3 year ministry were the religious elite. They would say something like that to another believer. As believer we are supposed to lift each other up not tear each other down. God lives in my heart so being crazy and following my heart is following God. God sent His spirit to teach us to be Good humans, to lift each other up not bicker and be petty with someone of the world. They do not have to follow our way and we are not to judge them for their actions or words. He suffered for us and we must suffer the world with him. Don't beat someone over the head with scripture, instead lift them up with scripture. Scripture is to be used as a weapon against the enemy and his spirits not other people unless they are wolves in sheeps clothing. we use scripture to sharpen another christian as iron sharpens iron. we use scripture with a nonbeliever when they seek us for answers and we use that scripture with love. Love is the greatest spiritual gift. do everything with love. One more thing No good can be done in this world outside of the Fathers will, as that would steal His glory from Him; so anyone seeking to do good in their hearts, not for glory from other men, but because it is the right thing to do in this world is seeking the Father knowingly or unknowingly. That is the true glory of the Father. Like a master chess player He makes all things work together for His glory and the good of those that love Him and His ways above all else.

So in the spirit of Proverbs 27:17 here is some meat to chew on; all of the above was paraphrased from the bible to my understanding starting with:
The entire Gospel of Luke and Acts of the Apostles, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, 1 Corinthians 3:16, John 14:26, 1 John 2:27 (John was Jesus's best friend on earth), Colossians 3:16, 2 Timothy 2:14, 1 Corinthians 6:2, 1 Peter 2:21, Matthew 23, Ephesians 6:11-12, Matthew 7, Proverbs 27:17, Isaiah 65:24, Matthew 5:44, 1 Corinthians 13, 1 Corinthians 16:13-14, Romans 7, Deuteronomy 4:29, James 4:8, Romans 8:28

It's been months since I've checked this thread...or even been on the site, my bad. It's awesome to see people still speaking the truth! And others still...well....drunk apparently. But anyway I thought I should share this... Yesterday my crew and I were dropping some dead oaks near a house and other buildings in a wooded neighborhood. I walked up to one of the trees, about 60 - 70 feet tall and 20 or inches in dia. I knew it should have a rope in it, so I figured I notch it while my helper untangled the tag line from the last tree we dropped. When I made my first cut (top cut of notch) the whole tree failed and went toward the house. Luckily it wasn't tall enough to damage anything, just my pride. Later on the homeowner came out to see how we were doing. I explained what happened and apologized for the breaks in other trees that were created. He said the typical "well at least your ok", but then did the unthinkable, he tipped us, after we failed, before we were done with the work. This is what God did for us. We showed up, failed...miserably, then he gives us his Son, his "tip", but not just a tip, the full payment. Even after we fail, while we fail, and when he knows we will continue to fail, and all before our job is complete. Boom.

Wow! Thankful for God's grace.

Nick Bostrom's simulation argument seems to me like a great way to warm atheists/agnostics to the possibility of a creator--certainly not the creator dreamed up by Augustine, Anselm, or Aquinas, but a creator nonetheless.

There could be a creator. But it's way too much of a stretch for me to think it's a god that created man in his own image, never mind a creator that cares about humans in particular.

It's amazing to think about. That is why it has to be revealed to you. Jesus said in Matthew 11:27 ,"All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

God's sovereignty and Love is difficult, no impossible to fully grasp this side of Heaven. Ephesians 1 talks about God choosing us before the foundation of the world. It also says," In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will."

Romans 9:16 says, "So it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.

I still struggle with God's sovereignty, but then I'm reminded that he would not be God if he wasn't all powerful.

Dude, you just went out of your way to come in to this thread and be a dickbag. All you have to do is not click on it. You have under 20 posts and how many of them pertained to this stupid shit. Get Over yourself. I am not a follower of this thread, but I know firsthand that rfwood is a truly good fellow, and I do not appreciate you attacking him in such a way for no damn reason. You sir appear to be an asshole.

The way I see it is people who believe that their God is going to punish all who don't believe what they do can kiss my ass.

Keep it private as was suggested.
