Climbers for Christ

take your religion and keep it on fb or church not on tree forum are you really that brainwashed?

There is a reason the moderators created a "Tree Free" section of the forums. To allow other topics of interest to be discussed. No body is preaching to anyone here on this particular thread. People come here of their own accord, as did you. Why is it not enough to just let others discuss topics that interest them? Why the need to try to force, cajole or ban the conversation from even happening?

You mean things like virgin birth?

Coming back to life after being dead?

Ever hear of embellishing a story?

Think a little.

If you read the Bible, you will see that it is not embellished. For example, why would the Israelites write a history about themselves that portrays them as disobedient, stubborn and weak? Many of the prophets were weak in their own strength. You would think that maybe the Israelite kings would be portrayed in a good light, but no most were evil. The most famous David committed adultery and then killed a man to try and cover up what he had done. King Solomon turned away from God towards the end of his life. The disciples of Jesus would not have been willing to die for their faith if they knew it to be false. See what Peter said about this: "For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased" we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. 2Peter 1:16-18

Beliefs are personal. Rights to those are protected. However, in light of evangelicalism influencing public policy, is molestation, false witness, and lying now become the pillars of Christian religious doctrine?
It more than appears so.
If rape is excused as permitted in the gospels, criminal intent should always be addressed and prosecuted accordingly.

Our father in heaven please give any soul whom struggles with questions they want answered the desire to pick up your word and may they find understanding through your word. Amen

Good evening treeco.. I would like to MEET you one day. I think I've told you before how much I like your avatar picture . What a brilliant colored sky there. Did you take that picture? It's wonderful you visit this thread! Like a seed from a tree you are..

Thanks. I took that photo and happened to drive by that tree twice earlier today.

I read 'New Post' here at the forum so when this thread pops up I open it and see what superstitious nonsense you guys are up to.

Treeco, your continual message reminds me of 1Corinthians 1: 20-24. It says, "Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God."

Listen to what the prophet Isaiah said in Isaiah 55: 10-11 "As the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

There is nothing I can add to God's word, it alone has the power to save.

What I do know is yesterday, a criminal case in Oklahoma closed with Juanita Gomez being convicted and sent to life behind bars for the killing of her adult daughter, Geneva Gomez, by forcing a crucifix down her throat for simply questioning the validity of the Old Testament. Juanita is a pastor at the United Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. 1st Degree Murder. It only took the jury 20 minutes.
Jim Jones, Eric Rudolf, David Koresh, Jim and Tammy Baker, Oral Roberts, Adolph Hitler, etc. etc. Lying murderers but commonality in accepting Jesus as their only deity and literally enforcing the word of God as written.
Then there's science. The enemy of myth and evangelism.
If life after death is "better" than what they caused here, no difference exists between the Taliban and fundamentalist christians.

Logical fallacies[edit]

Fallacies are defects that weaken arguments; Logical fallacies are errors in reasoning that invalidate the argument. McMullin (2000), a clinical psychologist, explains that: "Logical fallacies are unsubstantiated assertions that are often delivered with a conviction that makes them sound as though they are proven facts".[30] It is important to understand what fallacies are so that you can recognize them in either your own or others’ writing. Avoiding fallacies will strengthen your ability to produce strong arguments. It is important to note that;

Fallacious arguments are very, very common and can be quite persuasive, at least to the casual reader or listener. You can find dozens of examples of fallacious reasoning in newspapers, advertisements, and other sources. It is sometimes hard to evaluate whether an argument is fallacious. An argument might be very weak, somewhat weak, somewhat strong, or very strong. An argument that has several stages or parts might have some strong sections and some weak ones.

I would say that there are other indications of a higher power, when we see the amazing complexity and design in all of nature, then that is a powerful witness to a higher power.
In fact this witness makes more logical sense than believing that everything arose from nothingness.

It is very interesting. The mentality of those contributing in this thread. God to some is no more real than the Easter Bunny, but to others there is Faith. Complete trust or confidence in this belief. Many look at this trust as being merely superstitious, but what is faith... I believe that we cannot and will not ever be able to prove the existence of God. If we could prove it, would this not take away our freedom to choose to have this faith or not? I for one believe that living my life according to the Decalog and believing in God has only made me a better person. Me individually. I don't push it onto others, and I don't let it interfere with anyone else's beliefs.
I actually look at science for most of my answers as it reflects how complicated and how simple this world is. Science should support one's faith not contradict it. It can be flawed as we are human and cannot be perfect, but looking for validation in either realms cannot and will not prove or disprove the existence of God.

I have a lot of good material for the reasons why I believe, but again this only helps me and my belief in the Lord. I understand that to some this is foolish, and I understand that those same people will have their reasons why they don't believe, but in the end it cannot be proven either way. This is why I think the mentality here is very interesting.

Maybe im wrong but but i see it that Surveyor did not argue the existence as he just made a quote of statement of jesus speaking in metaphor in that you can tell how someone is by what they do. For true believers in my experience is about living out the words Jesus spoke with actions. Faith is dead without action. Jesus was never self righteous. Preaching to honor our Father with all our hearts and minds and love each other as we love ourselves. As ourselves maybe a reflection in our children in turn. So my question to you Mike Dunn is would you be offended of your children should they say Dad I believe in Jesus Christ and the salvation he offers.
