Climbers for Christ

no offense but your assertions that atheism provides a meaningless existence is inane dogmatic drivel. There is no greater spirituality then to seek truth through science. To recognize ourselves in an infantesimal cosmos is one of the most spiritual paths to be taken. To live without the promise of eternal reward and die knowing that my collective matter will one day return to the cosmos is more comforting to me then any other afterlife worldview.

The goal of spirituality is to search for meaning in our lives, or accept that there is no meaning, and appreciate the world as it exists.

If you appreciate the world as it exists then you'll appreciate that there is some kind of religious or spiritual impulse hardwired into humans that goes far beyond what secular progressive science can comprehend.

The goal of organized religion in my personal opinion has proven itself to be the control of the masses.

So religion has nothing to offer.

Atheism is a condition defined by what it denies. It can only exist in a world where the rules are set by believers. Take religion out of the world and atheism becomes a redundant ideology.... meaningless.

There is no greater spirituality then to seek truth through science.

What you describe is faith, the idea that you will seek truth through science is the same as a Christian saying they will seek truth through God.

You've borrowed from Christianity's search for truth, you believe that science will give you salvation in the form of scientific proof, then what? where does that leave you? The current unthinking belief that the world will become a better place through science and progress alone is an illusion based on faith.

I don't attend church regularly . I don't care what anyone here believes.Dont think any less of any person who doesn't think how I do. I just live my life the only way I know how with faith hope and love.
Live the life you love!
Do you know what love is!?

I think humans became hardwired for religion by evolution. There was an evolutionary benefit to taking what your parents said at a young age without question. Evolutionary a child that didnt heed his parents wisdom on why not to eat certain things or take adverse risks would not survive to propagate their genes. Also as man progressed from the band to the tribal status groups that wielded organized religion had an advantage over groups that didnt. It wasnt until the enlightenment that western civilization would become introspective.

An atheist says there is no God. Unfortunately for the atheist, you would have to be God to make that claim. You would have to be omnipresent to know for sure.

I think you're argument is flawed.

A Christian says there is only one God. Unfortunately for the Christian, you would have to be God to make that claim. You would have to be omnipresent to know for sure.

You see.

and it's not going away any time soon either, that religious impulse is almost 200,000 years in the making.

It wasnt until the enlightenment that western civilization would become introspective.

Plato was around 2500 years ago, he was more introspective than any of the lightweights of the enlightenment.

Uhhhh... I think the OP was just seeing if any members were interested in receiving some emails.

Pretty sure no one's gonna convince another of God's existence (or lack thereof) or settle the origins of the universe in the "Tree Free Zone" of a relatively obscure website visited by a fraternity of dedicated, professional arborists.

As you were.

No one walking though a desert would, after seeing a pocket watch laying in the sand think, "I wonder how that evolved?" We automatically recognize it as having an intelligent designer. This world is full of amazingly complex creatures that we can't even come close to duplicating and yet some people think that there is no God. Darwin himself had a hard time believing that the eye could evolve. Here is an article on the complexity of the eye https://answersingenesis.org/charles-darwin/darwin-vs-the-eye/
Read Romans 1:18-20 and you will see that men are without excuse.

I recommend the book "Evidence that Demands a Verdict" by Josh McDowell to anyone who questions the resurrection of Christ.

I think that there is a lot of confusion over what Faith is. Faith is not something we conjure up in ourselves it is a gift from God. (Ephesians 2:8-10) Faith comes from hearing God's Word (Romans 10:17)

Nope. I have 66 different books packed with true prophecies and validated history which tell me so. The atheist has blind faith.
