Brutal tree in roasting heat!

You know what works even better than the CoolVest, and doesn't cost $200.
Not working in 90-100 degree weather!

Works better, but doesn't pay.

Do they work?

What about 85 degree weather? You'll work, but be way more worn out at the end of the day without a Coolvest than with.

When its cold out, I don't wear a t-shirt, I wear clothes that keep me warm.

Same thing.
Do these vests work?

Like nice down jacket does for cold weather.
Worth Every Penny!

I got my first one last year from GlacierTek. It's been a lifesaver. I eventually had to buy them for my crew. Kinda expensive but you wouldn't work in the winter without a coat. I have 3 extra sets of cool packs. Takes 20 min to freeze in ice water and lasts 4 hours. Definitely worth it.

That must of had a good sized crown.

Yeah, it was a big one. About 75' tall. Stump is 40"x46". There's one next door that's twice that, might have to go, too. I think city is coming out early next week to look at it. They're going to resurface the streets, and it has huge limbs stretching clear to the other side.

Cut this one up for firewood. Got about half of it cleaned up today, will finish up tomorrow.

A different way to think about this.

I invested in them for hooking up the whole crew. Everyone has better judgment, more productivity, and more gas in the tank at the end of the day for when they get home, because they aren't fighting a heat challenge all day.

One safety issue/ accident avoided is worth the $200 a vest cost.

Maybe the city will lighten it up for ya a bit?!

Yeah I climb in it. They make them that fit snugger than mine for bicycle riders and motocrossers. It would be hard to tear it. Not impossible though. They make inserts that go between the vest and the cooling pouches for protection. I have to leave it unzipped a little at first for my chest box but I guess you could wear it outside the vest with no trouble.

I bought one and now I understand some things it’s great. Here is what I learned...

The cool best makes you feel cooler meaning that you might not drink as you would without it. That’s a big mistake, which on my first time, lead to heat exhaustion. Ugly night!

Now, I drink regularly while wearing it!

Going without it is like going without a coat during the winter. You can do it but it's more miserable. I have make myself stop and drink water during the day. I don't get thirsty very often so I have to keep on top of it. Water, powdered gatorade and pedialyte.

Yesterday I took a break and sat down on a short brick wall. a few minutes later I noticed I was dripping off the hem of my shirt. there was a pretty good sized puddle where it had landed. I absolutely hate this time of year here, it hasn't been below 90 or under 75% humidity since the beginning of June and won't break until sometime in October if I'm lucky. Everybody out there, be careful and keep a watch on each other. Be safe, be well.

3:30 end game today 95 degrees no breeze at all. Can’t hydrate fast enough.

I've been carrying my shop fan and 100 extension cord to every job. Makes a world of difference to be able to have a little air every once in a while. Seems to be a very popular spot for everyone else while I'm in the sun on the side of the tree .

Mom taught me the trick of filling a sink up with water and some cubes then sink your arms in with elbows resting on the bottom. Not much help in the field but cools you down quickly.
