Brutal tree in roasting heat!

I hear you. But... going through that adds to experience. Good call to take a break.

This heat has seriously got me thinking about a power ascender. My perspective is that having one would mean more frequent breaks could occur and also that more energy is conserved to work the tree.

I am thinking about the Ronin. Two batteries.

Thoughts?

My only issue with the Ronin is the lack of midline connectivity. If it had that Id buy one right now.

I bought one. It would be better with midline - no disagreement there.
However, I have a dedicated line which I leave on it, and have rigged it so that there groundsperson can ‘pull / descend’ it back. That way it’s out of the way but ready to use on the way back up. Made me more productive.

I saw bad rope wear someone. Maybe the Ronin Thread.

Stephen, I've got a Wraptor. This is a steal of a deal, if it doesn't eat ropes.

I thought I saw 2 battery options.

When do you need midline attachability?

I was thinking that it would be nice if I could detach the unit and send it down. I guess you could anyway? I wouldn’t want to be lugging around 20 pounds of gear on a dismantle

I have now set it up, with a mod... so that a groundsperson can “auto descend it” back to the ground.

Have not seen it eat my rope.

One access line and one climbing line might part of the answer.

If I ascend on my energy-absorbing Wraptor rope, I am tied onto the Wraptor with a climbing system. When I get to the top of the ride, I disconnect my climbing rope from the Wraptor and climb higher. I can have the base-tie untied by groundie, and can lower the Wraptor where it is, midline.

Storing the Ronin midline on the rope, in a medium/ large Rubbermaid tote might be simpler than taking it off to store it. I never take my Hitchhiker off my climbing rope for storage. Same idea.

Yes, I am also doing something similar on some trees. I use a twin line rope guide.

However, it’s comforting, when rigging out big wood to have it (Ronin) removed completely. Either lower it off basal tie or - have ropeman descend it (with a mod).

Regardless - awesome but if of kit I will use tomorrow to access a ninety foot elm in 95F.

Water on the wrists, inside elbows, back of knees and back of neck and on the face is my cool down trick. Sqirt bottle helps, i learned it on the football pitch. Something about those places where the skin is thinner? Try it if you can remember anything next time youre brain baking.
