you are correct, core temperature is the issue.. Also dehydration causes electrolyte imbalance which causes a whole gamut of other serious problems. Dehydration is the biggest bad boy though because it can't be fixed by cooling the body, it takes time to replenish body fluids and electrolytes. If you are dehydrated, then decline in health is very rapid and you need to get into the shade fast and hydrate slowly while cooling highly vascular areas with wet rags.You have to cool your core, not fake out receptors. Feeling cooler, and being cooler /not hyperthermic are different things.
