. or how about just stupid... when 2 or 3 wraps and a timber hitch using any old piece of short line could been just as effective.

I think that the benefits of doubling, tripling, or many x-ing a half inch line is highly under-utilized in this biz.. ie. if you're worried about the pull lines strength, just double it up with a basket hitch and leave bull rope at the shop.

Is it the way I would have done it? I have no idea, I wasn’t there. Is it effective and done for a reason, yes! Are there other ways? Yeah sure..
have I done it, yes!
Will I do it again, yes!
Have I used different material or do things differently for the same issue, yes!
