This was just a spur of the moment video on a 27 hazard / future problem tree removal job.



We used bored-back cuts and Coos Bays for 16 alders. No chaining/ binding. A little splitting in my apprentice... she was new to bored/ slanted backcuts and CBs. Now, she has the basics down, along with more experiential knowledge.

Sometimes I’ll use a dead eye rope sling with a slipped cats paw in place of chains. Not exactly to prevent barber chair but to drastically mitigate.
Works a treat and less cumbersome than chains.
I have some older scrap 3/8 amsteel I’ll use.
Also a little more disposable than wedges is to use the face cut in place. Button up shirts make for great pouches.

silly, but not unexpected coming from you... the top is out... and you drag up a chain to prevent BC? there are all kinds of cuts that wold 100% effective. But even for someone lacking in cutting skills, with the diameter on that tree, there is no need for a chain... 12-15' of half inch line would have been plenty...

Stay in your wheel house will ya? Alders will pop open this time of year. Even after limbing and blowing a top. I’ve seen spars pop 18”, and while eating lunch the pile of bucked rounds will start self splitting.
Haven’t seen it be a problem but it’s sure uncomfortable to see the stem your on pop and open up on you.

He was chased out of the Treehouse because he's a piece of shit, can't climb or cut well, wants to armchair trees he had no clue about, be it how he'd explore a new cut from a ladder from a deck to clear a septic with a tulip poplar or if he'd be good enough with 500 pound working load loops versus 6000 pound working load loops of hard rigging.

I get it, it was only a medium alder. I've climbed and dismantled a far, far bigger alder.

I am honing the system, protecting today, while knowing I have bigger fish to fry in my future. It's conceivably that I've done one in the past, that one time... hike in wrecking job, 2 of us, winched logs into the forest, burned the brush very close to landing zones. Yes, that's one stump.

I put him back on ignore and strongly encourage anyone tired of his bullshit to do the same. It's rare that I have to actually see what he said, I can infer from whatever someone responds which kind of bullshit he was spouting

Long ago, I'd have thrown the guy overboard who keeps shooting holes in the party boat were all on.

Oh yes, the farmers bore cut aka the sloping bore cut lol. I've practiced them on the ground, never really needed to use one when climbing, which is a good thing.
Nice job getting those all topped out. Was there a reason you couldn't have dropped that tree right into the field.

It would have increased the work load in the sun. Chipping in the shade is mucho more better.



I would have dropped it right at the tray of my big chipper ( all steel!) and been into machine-feeding. The new chipper is way less durable.

I needed a bit more space from this chipper tray.


I may have popped millable logs near the butt, to them move them out of the field, past the chipper.


One tree had a some side-lean... easy to work all 3 trees from one TIP.




My miniloader is having a motor rebuilt, so I was very limited only having my micro-x with a hydraulic thumb. Slow, light, no BMG, however, easy better than manual!
