Arborist Tennis Elbow

DOn't be a puss. I've been doing tree work for 28 years , I do a hundred push ups every day , Tennis elbow is an excuse not to work . suck it up ! And stay away from starbucks !

For a tree worker pushups aren't of much benefit. Big pecs don't help you climb or work better. We just don't push too many trees around.

Shoulder exercises such as seated military presses are more of a benefit. Don't forget about your rotator cuffs too.

Tennis elbow is one of the most painful things I have experienced. It is like a deep toothache inside your arm; it is a shooting pain that comes out of nowhere and there is nothing that relieves it. I actually found that the pain always hit me when I was inactive. Either way, it $uck$! You obviously haven't had it, Riggs.

How about rowing, or lateral pull down ( where you start with your arm extended 45 degrees up and to the side and pull in and across your body). I have done these for years, mostly as PT for my bum shoulder but it helps a lot. Those and ABS would also be a benefit as well, but not so much for the tennis elbow.

Rowing is one of those PT exercises that my physical therapist gave me to do for my elbow tendonitis.

I use one of those industrial rubber bands that I tie to a post and do a standing row exercise. The movement mimics the motion of using a hand saw while pruning in a tree, but in a more controlled manner.

This was the movement that was really hurting my right elbow last year. The exercise is helping to not only condition the elbow tendon, but also strengthen the entire shoulder girdle area, especially the rhombiods in the mid back, which can also take a beating from treework.

Lat Pulldowns are also a good alternative to pullups that are easier on the joints if you are trying to rehab an injury. The key is to do them in a controlled manner without trying to jerk the weight around.

haven't had it , just busting your balls , didn't know you had none . My bad . How do you score it ? Love , set , match. Hey Chris great work out , been very active for 28 yrs. , so those push ups must be only good for 29? I'm 43 and I'm fine . Rotors are fine , whats your point ? Tom the treeman I'm not suprised one bit you have elbow problems , gotta suck . So suck it up !

Actually, Riggs, I don't have elbow problems. I did have a case of TE in the past (leftover effects of a torn tendon), so I know what it feels like, but nothing chronic.

You could not have been busting my balls, because I had not posted in this thread until after you. You talking to shovelhead?

How come every thread you post in becomes a macho-man argument? Think it has something to do with you?

That was cute , did you have one hand in your pocket when you did that ? ever here that song by the "police " every move you make ? well from this day on , tom the tree man , you better know what your talking about . Cause riggs the tree man will be there , both hands on the keyboard , with my dog shovelfeet. That was great LOL ....

I don't care how much you know or don't know, or how good you are, or whether or not you're a tough guy, genius, whatever. You might be a great guy, but your communication skills are weak, esp. over the internet.

If I don't know what I'm talking about, I'll ask someone, but not you. Feel free not to reply to any of my posts in the future, Thanks,

i have physical therapist i have to see for tennis elbow. my boss does not like it because its a weekly thing. i am suppose to go 2 times a week but i'll know i'll get fired

I would talk to your boss and try to explain your situation to him.

Tell him that in the long run its better for both of you to avoid a MSD injury. There is no reason he should fire you, especially if it is work related.

This was first caused from doing barbell curls in the gym (why I started doing them I don't know) last month and has gotten progressively worse while climbing and hand cutting.

Chris, I did exactly the same while on holiday in Mexico a couple of years ago. The hotel gym was the first I'd ever set foot in but I just wanted to stay in some kind of shape while not working. Its never been right since.

I now have one of those hand grips that I squeeze repetitively while driving to work each morning. I also dig my thumb in and around the tendons to loosen them up....both techniques have eased the pain considerably, although I have no idea why. Good luck

What is a gym? And do white people still go to Mexico?

Look BEHIND you.

No but seriously I am going to see if my PT guy knows about acupunture for my elbow and try it. I was just asking where they jab the needles. I hope its not the elbow.
People say one handing a chainsaw is bad but what about handsaws?
