Anyone wear a down vest when it's cold?

Same idea.

Recharges in a cooler.

3 sets for 2 people works really well. 2 sets per person is the Best.

One set... would you cooldown for a while, even if you have to take a break from the cool for 30 minutes ( normal working conditions)?


Can't day it enough, and I'm in the cool PNW (although a couple years ago, we has a freak 112⁰ heart dome).

I'd used some working for a municipality years ago in Georgia.

I didn't like them much. More to wear, more to move, more to think about. Plus the cold on my hot body wasn't all that nice.

Sweat helps. Acclimation and time. Cold water on hands/neck. Frequent breaks.

We had intense heat this week. Worked shorter days and started earlier. Climbing jobs too. Slow and steady. Lots of planning so less frustration and less energy expended.

I'll second that. I bought one years ago, and was not impressed either. It is still in the closet here someplace. Maybe I'll give it to someone else one day, if I ever dig it up.

Different strokes.

Everyone here has liked them on hot days, even after it was seen as a burden before experiencing them.

I'm pretty heat-tolerant but not as much as when younger.


I feel way better at night after not having such heat challenge all day.

We still take breaks and use the cooling station (garden hose).

I don't recall anyone mentioning that before, but I did wonder about the how cold they feel on you. I'm also noticing that I'm losing my heat tolerance with age a little bit each year, so I was thinking about getting a vest, but I already don't like wearing any more than I need to. When I move back to the central valley, I will probably get one to try it, but I am kind of expecting to end up giving it to a friend.
