2011 Ohio Tree Climbing Competition

BIG congratulations for Matt Cornell in his first ever masters challenge. Hell yeah! Good job Brian, heard you had a stellar performance as well.

Matt Cornell had the eye of the tiger today. His masters was really good, Ddrt off of a lowerable system. He also rocked out the fastest AR time of the day, by over a minute, and only 1 of 5 guys who completed the event.

Brian's masters was very smooth. I thought he had enough rope to get down after the plumb bob, but he followed directions from judges and got it done their way.

Good day, great job by the organizers!

I had a great time in Ohio and would like to thank the Ohio chapter for allowing me to compete and look forward to next year. Ohio has a stellar group of climbers and Jay will do well in Australia. It was cool putting some faces to some of these avatars and it was a pleasure meeting all of you.

Thank You to everyone for putting together such a great event, especially the guys that came in from afar (Limbwalkers, Jeff and Dawn, Kristian, and Mr. Hattier), and everyone else that helped out. There is no way I would have done it without all your help, especially getting done in a shorter day than usual (even with a hattier 35 minute master climb). Its awesome to have professionals who now what they're doing.
I will try to get scores posted soon so everyone can check them out.

Huge thanks to Chris Ahlum and the Ohio Chapter for putting on such a great event. Thanks also to that huge list of sponsors for all of their support !!

The crews from the city of Bexley did an incredible job preparing the gorgeous trees and the fact that we were even able to use such a spectacular site deserves a ton of thanks for the residents and leaders of Bexley.

The volunteers, both local and travelling, did the usual tons of work necessary to make sure this event ran smoothly. There is nothing more fun than to be part of a big team that functions as one....Thanks to all of the new friends made and for the old friends that continue to raise the bar at TCC's.

As always, it was a pleasure to see the skill, professionalism, and comradery displayed by the competitors !!! Without any doubt Thomas Whitelock was perfect example of this and was well deserving of the first ever Spirit Award for the Ohio Chapter!! Considering that this was the first year that Ohio has allowed out of state climbers, I know you laid the groundwork for this openness to continue....huge thanks for that !!!

Congrats to all of the competitors for the excellent display of climbing, especially to Jay, Matt, and Brian who put on one hell of a show in the truly memorable Masters !!

Can't wait til next year so we can do this all again !!!!

yeah, I was keeping time for this event and kept rechecking the stopwatch b/c Matt was so far ahead! Inspiring to see!

What a great weekend, so much to check out, so many tips & info generously shared by a group of great climbers.

One of the best parts was standing around talking to new friends & suddenly realizing who they were on TreeBuzz. Fun fun fun!

Thanks everybody & great to meet you all!

Good to meet you too Laurie! You did a great job in the Aerial Rescue event. Part of a stellar team. Tyler, Paul, and Brian all helped us destroy Cory Petry and the rest of the work climb team.

Team EZ rules again.

Thanks! And the destruction was indeed total & without mercy! I was so proud to be the one who delivered the message & saw Cory break down in tears. It was embarrassing, really.

Do I know you? I don't recall any of that. Frankly, it sounds made up.

I was happy to hear so many nice comments about how much fun the Aerial Rescue event was for the competitors. Both challenging and thrilling all at the same time..... Oh wait. No, that was my event. The WORK CLIMB!!!

I had a great time this weekend, and was proud to have worked with Greg, Shawn, Jesse, Tommy, TJ, and Grant at the Work Climb.
