11.7 mm Velocity soon

A little birdy told me that Samson will be releasing a new Velocity line @ 11.7 mm. I live within 5 miles of Wesspur and Samson rope factory... life is good!

Glad to see Samson re-tool their Arborist products. They are an assest to our craft and value our business. Shameless plug...

live action photo's tomorrow. Got a spar all set to 'negative block' down. New slings, rope, etc - looking good!
Photoshop out all the tattoo's? :)

I got to review 13mm velocity a number of months ago. I loved it. Very supple in the hand but the flexibility and feel that i like about Velocity. Stretch felt very minimal. Spliced incredibly easily (so i'm told). It was my favorite arborist line i've run, i hated to give it back. I hope they come out with this. I'm def a big fan. You get added weight with the size increase but thats expected and does not deter me from buying or wanting this rope. Great for ascent, Srt climbing as well as Ddrt climbing.

Wow, 13mm. Did it run thru your ascenders easily? Pantin too?
I just started playing w/ SRT this summer and bought a Tachyon line (11.7mm) because it is 'bigger' than the Velocity I had for footlocking. Glad to hear that Samson is coming up in size...

There was a little bit of drag with the handled ascenders. But worked just fine with the pantin.

13mm is the same size as any of your half inch 16strand. Blue streak, Safety Blue. Any of those.

Any idea when this rope is coming out?

What happened to our live action photos?

Sorry - I got no photo's. The Samson people sent their marketing guys to take pics of us working. I don't think I get any copies - just a bunch of free rope and slings! Funny, I had to strip off my Yale (bluemoon) lanyard and replace my Ergo bridge with some Velocity line. Gotta be looking corporate! Got a couple new t-shirts too...

As far as release date of a new Velocity line, I have no clue. Deadline for the new catalog is September - maybe that means something? My only suggestion to the catalog folks - send them to ALL tree workers via mail. Maybe they can buy a mailing list from Wesspur or Sherrills'?

I've always loved velocity line except for the stretch. Climbing srt only now I couldn't imagine using my velocity line. My line used to stretch so much that I was actually concerned with it being mini shock loaded with every bounce.

If they made a static line with that coating I'd be all about it. If they made that coating in a can so I could paint it on any line I'd be even more happy.

Is anyone else mildly concerned with velocitys tackiness excellerating wear on mechanical ascenders/descenders?

Samthane Rope Coating

Velocity's tackiness being more abrasive on mechanical ascenders and such had never even crossed my mind... Very interesting...
