    retracting reels

I made mine January of 2018 and it has very little wear, still operates really well. I also bought one with a PVC/rubber coated and metal core lanyard/string - the material, I thought, would be more abrasion resistant, compared to some of the rope/fiber Keyback lanyards. The reel I purchased...

    RE Akimbo setting and rope

Weight: 150lbs (no gear) Ropes, Condition and Device Settings KMIII Max:good condition with some minor areas of fraying/fuzz A,2 KMII: great condition, >1yr of use, A,3 or A,4 No tips just yet , but some observations after 3-4 hrs of tinkering / fiddling in the shop, some short ascents and...

    DMM Axis Swivel, Has Play

Lol Eli I know it's you homie! Interesting! I didn't know about that 1mm of play thing. Yeah Taylor just swapped mine out with a new one when this happened to mine, however the gap was at least 2 to 3 mm. Glad ya got it sorted out - the Axis swivel is an awesome piece of hardware to have.

    DMM Axis Swivel, Has Play

This happened to my large Axis swivel. There's a slight 'pop' when you try to pull the two halves apart, and there was a slight separation that wasn't there before. The two halves could be pressed back together - but upon being loaded would separate slightly. I showed it to Taylor and he...

    Rope ID

Ah man I miss that rope :( I had 150 feet of it, but at around the 50-60ft point after the sewn eye...it got dragged across a galvanaized fence and there was a bunch of pretty terrible knicks/puffs for about 6-8ft. Had to cut it. It was a sad day.

    Compact Bulldog Bone

Yeah dude. I'd rate it 6/10. Xstatic is basically an 11.7mm version of KMIII Max, in my opinion. The 11mm KMIII Max runs wonderfully in a well-adjusted BDB. Despite having a similar jacket "feel" as KM3 Max, Xstatic seems to be a less 'agile' - it feels heavier and clunkier. Even though...

    retracting reels

Here's some footage of the retractable reel knee ascender in action at an open ascent competition a few weeks ago. I placed second....and i couldn't have done it without the thing. It's a fast piece of gear, especially on the right rope.

    Interesting Japanese climbing spikes

I was obsessed with finding a place to buy these spikes after I found that dude's youtube channel 2 years ago. All I was able to find was some difficult to navigate, impossible to read japanese websites that had no clear way of ordering online...

    DMM throw hook.

Thank you for the input. You're right - I notice as I get older (I know I'm only 25, but you know what I mean) and more experienced, I've been forcing/muscling my way through certain tasks and instead trying to find a way to make things easier on my body. I always make the joke "climbing SRS...

    DMM throw hook.

I appreciate your utilizing the hook to move across to cut the ends of that limb. I find myself muscling through stuff I don't deem the hook "necessary" for because I falsely tell myself asking a ground guy to tie it on, pull it up, throw and miss several times, manage all the extra rope etc...

    retracting reels

I ordered a retractable reel from Amazon (gear keeper, 58oz retract force) and recycled a couple of old CT foot ascender and straps to make this. I'm gonna swap any and all clips/biners to XSRE's eventually. Works pretty well so far. It stows compactly and it zips up the line quickly on...

    Compact Bulldog Bone

Yes. I've tended by directly clipping to the hole in the spine, the D ring on the upper arm (on the non-adjustable upper arm assembly, that is), and also from the nano swivel (does not work very well at all). This method pictured is my preferred method. I clip another XSRE on a chest harness...

    Compact Bulldog Bone

Received 150' feet of Teufelberger Xtatic this week. Tried it out yesterday - it's an excellent choice for the BDB. Only complaints: It can be a bit "wiry" like HTP after it's been climbed on, so that's a bit annoying when putting the rope away, but not a huge deal. Also, I ordered this rope...

    Compact Bulldog Bone

@Treezybreez How do you like the Xstatic? Run well in the BDB? Which rope(s) would you say are comparable (Kern, KM3max etc)? Just ordered one fitty from Bartlett and it arrives tomorrow...just curious what your experience was like with that rope.
