How to get reasonably priced lumber for timber framing in NC?

Hi, I picked up a new hobby—timber framing. The lumber prices at big suppliers in Raleigh, NC, are too high for me. I am curious if any arborists in central NC produce lumber from the trees they cut. Or maybe you know some local small-scale sawmill enthusiasts who produce lumber at reasonable...

Granberg Alaskan Mill - what to start with?

Thanks. I think I should ask a different question: is it even worth considering cheap knockoffs or just go with the original Granberg? (assuming I will use it for years) Also, I will be getting 90cc Husqvarna chainsaw with 36 inches bar. What model of Granberg do you recommend? The one that...

Knee ascender - difficulty with staying upright

Hi, Just tried Petzl knee ascender plus Zigzag and Notch foot ascender and cannot stay upright. Is it always so difficult to stay upright? I suppose it’s my extra pounds that make it so difficult for me. Just curious if staying upright is challenging for everyone . thanks.

Sequoia harness D rings and two bridges

Thanks a lot. This is useful information. The second bridge is 5 cm longer and I attached it at the bottom. The attachment points are pretty much at the same height. I use the top harness mostly for weight distribution of the main harness. I’ve seen videos people use Croll to quickly switch...

Sequoia harness D rings and two bridges

I have 2019 SRT Sequoia plus chest Croll top harness. I usually use zigzag+chicane and zillon with it. I configured zillon to use it as 2-in-1 (double end double adjust) and I occasionally use lower D-rings for the second attachment. If you primarily use lower D-rings for lanyard what do you use...

Sequoia harness D rings and two bridges

Questions about configuration and usage: 1. Second bridge It’s a little longer than original. Should I mount the longer bridge above or below the original? 2. D rings I usually use upper rings for lanyard. How do you use the lower rings? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Stinking harness

As a newbie I sweat a lot. My harness and especially petzl croll chest harness smell terribly (from sweat). I know I can wash it, but I cannot wash it too often. Should I just ignore it or there are some solutions? I was thinking about anti-bacterial spray. Thanks

However I accept the “pain challenge” with humility as a part of rite of passage :) I just hope there is no putting out of cigarettes on my skin ;)

Spurs pads adjustments. Should there be any pain?

Zamberlan Vioz. Everything is heavy, but at least I hoped for relative comfort with this huge Buckingham Big Buck velcro pads. https://www.treestuff.com/buckingham-big-buck-velcro-pads/

Spurs pads adjustments. Should there be any pain?

Yes, and they are big, supposedly comfortable. However I am concerned they are adjusted too high. Should the main pad pressure go against muscle?
