My point exactly. This entire conversation is crazy. It's one of those things that one half of your brain says to stay far far away from while the other half says to make some ridiculous joke about. Guess I couldn't help myself.
The best learning tools I ever found we're someone else's mistakes. Much less painful than learning from your own, so I try and pass on more of my mistakes and failures than triumphs.
I got out 2 years ago and took a management job with a contractor at a paper mill. Physically, I'm better off from a longevity standpoint. Financially, I'm good, maybe even a little better when you don't count hurricane season in Florida. Mentally, I'm bored out of my mind at work and...
Just to add an example of results, I had a guy who was in his second year climbing that started with me and within a month was gone elsewhere because he thought he was worth $x and wasn't willing to learn in order to earn.
I also had a green horn groundie, and I mean green like baby turds...
I used to set learning goals for newbies that directly correlated to pay raises. Chart out a list of skills or techniques that you need him to have or improve upon, and denote a monetary amount for each individual skill. For instance:

I started in a weaver 4d, then had a treemotion, and used a Sequoia a few times too before I stopped climbing. Never ever even put on a rock climbing harness before, or even thought of it honestly, until I realized one could be had for so cheap. I knew someone here would have though. Everyone...
Don't need a Cadillac, but damn sure not going back to a weaver 4 D and a Blake's hitch. Too old for all that these days. I will look into new tribe. Thanks
I appreciate the feedback guys.
I'd only be climbing around enough to satisfy my cravings. Once, maybe twice a month for an hour or 2 and I dont imagine I'd be doing too much hanging. Definitely not much cutting, if any. I'll probably end up pissing my wife off and just buying another Sequoia...
I stopped climbing 2 years ago and took a nice white collar management job. I miss the tree life though, so I want to get myself some new gear just for recreational use and a little trimming around my 7 acre property. Has anyone ever used one of those cheap rock climbing rigs like a black...
