When it's done there is a little bit of a bulge at the crossover. but i did a 9/16 rope and use 3/4 blocks or big rings so never had an issue. Their website has info for a sirius splice. Turns out to be the same as samson class 1 db splice. The cover is tight so I like to add an extra 5 inches on the end and do a lil taper on the core before I try to bury it so it slides thru easier. Samson stable braid 1/2" and 9/16". Double braid rigging lines. Brand new!!
1/2" stable braid are 140ft long. 9/16" are 160ft and 180ft long. Some are spliced. Some arent. -

home made wire core lanyard???
to be clear i wasnt trying to make the eyes with the wire, i thought maybe i could replace the core with wire and use the rope eyes like any other rope lanyard but it would be a bit stiffer. my question was more about whether the wire as core would be okay or would it make the splice slip since...- Daveyface

yes i just want to stiffen up the rope since i can splice rope easily i wanted to just add some wire to the standard 16 strand splice to make it easier to flip up the tree, im not concerned with it being harder to cut and was only thinking of having the wire replace the core not hold any weight- Daveyface

has anyone ever tried to make a wire core lanyard with 16 strand?. i know they crimp the eyes but my idea was to just replace the core of 16 strand with some equal size wire to stiffen up the lanyard, the eyes will still be regular 16 strand splice and the wire would start where the core is...- Daveyface
