Damn now I want one. I could have tried one out yesterday on a rec climb with some other fine tree climbers that I have met here on the internet, but I was occupied by trying other things I've been thinking about and dialing in other things I've recently bought. The one complaint I have about...
Hell yes, thank you dude! It's so nice to make contact in person with other climbers who are interested in modern techniques and love to learn new stuff.
Tensile of the block is 30,000. 6k wll, but only 3k per side of the pulley... take into account the report of slop forming in the swivel when repeatedly shock loaded and its not worth the weight for an impact block application in my opinion. As an overhead pulley, I would never have an anchor...
Their is a pill called thermotabs. I have had very good results taking one of those twice durring the day. Its sodium and potassium. Usually one first thing with a pint of water and one half way thru the day. I then drink lots of air temp water. Cold water has to be heated by the body before it...
I want to try doing comps, so I either have to get a wrench, or go mrs, and I'm just uncomfortable on mrs anymore. I did mess around with my spiderjack today a little, and I think I could rock it if I had to, but I still want to get a wrench. That might just be my excuse to get some vega.
Oh, and I got a chance to check out some vega today. Really nice rope! Good density, good hand, smooth but not too smooth cover. I didn't climb on it, but feels real nice. If I wasn't so in love with my new 13mm km3, I'd get me some of that vega.
Damn right! We can't have big chunks of metal flying around! Of course, I prefer not to have uncontrolled logs and ropes flying around either, but I agree, the block, break, and slings need to be stronger than the rope and account for force multiplication. So if the breaking strength of your...
Gaps regular price for 600 feet of blue moon is 489.99. I have always seen aztec as higher priced and unfortunately, gap only has blue moon in yale 11.7
I never heard someone describe a climbing line as glazey. I've melted my fair share of rigging lines, but never a climbing line. How do you glaze a climbing line swing?
Dispite knowing a base tie roughly doubles load on a tip, I never think of rigging that way. I guess I am always thinking in terms of is my rope strong enough. Usually my block is the strongest part of the system, followed by the brake, then the slings, then rope. Good reminder that load on the...
Gap has 150' of blue moon listed at $120, 200 at $164. But with a commercial discount they come in much lower. I got the commercial discount even though I don't quite meet the dollars per year of sales they said they were looking for, but its really nice to support a smaller company with great...
I agree there are many nice blocks and I have a couple. I'm just interested in this one because it swivels and I can detach the rope from the block without detaching the sling from the block.
It doesn't look that much larger than the blue moon in the picture, but it feels a lot bigger. Under body wieght tension the blue moon shrinks and the km3 does not. The blue moon also gets flattened out a lot more, the km3 is staying very round in my devices.
A little more testing in my backyard today. 50 foot tip. No discernable elongation, but flex at my tip was significant, so it was hard to tell. Mini saka and ct foot ascender working perfectly, bdb and hh2 also working great. Got a little bit of limb walking in and the tending on return for both...
@swingdude recommends yale 11.7 to fill all your rr needs. Lol, I don't have a rr, I was just reading this thread and recalled swingdude talking about how great a combo it is.
