Hardware falling out of a tree is a good point. You're right though, RBJtree, remote retrieval would mitigate that.
More than anything I'm worried about side loading the ring.
I've been told that lines like HTP won't set properly if you want to use a Blake's hitch. I rarely do, Im on the hitch climber system most of the time. But I am curious why a lot of the more static lines in the Sherrill catalogue aren't recommended for DRT.
Looking for a climbing rope with less elasticity than Yale's 11.7 Ivy, but still acceptable for double line.
I've heard good things about the smaller diameter HTP, but I've been told its exclusively an SRT line.
Any suggestions?
Anyone have recommendations for a decent pair of inexpensive boots to wear with spikes? Also advice for a more quality pair to get later on down the line?
Is there a way to adjust the distance the leg loops are from the waist belt?
I know on the previous SRT version (never tried on the DRT one) you could adjust the distance the leg straps fell in the back, but not the front. I.E. giving your sack more room, and having the leg straps ride down...
I bought the Schultz Effect a few months ago, and am trying to log back onto Gumroad to check it out, but am having trouble. Has anyone else had similar problems?
I did have that. Thank you, Bango Skank. I was just being an idiot.
UPDATE!
I was having trouble sliding the bearing posts out, so I couldn't remove the clutch. Problem solved. I am a little dissapointed at how much it is slipping on the tritech right now, but I am hoping it is just a learning...
Maybe I am an idiot, but...
I bought a Positioner 2 w/ swivel and some Tritech to put it on, but the Tritech is spliced on both ends, so I can't just slide the rope through the positioner to assemble my new lanyard.
Anyone have a good video on how to dismantle a positioner 2 to get it onto a...
I'm a green climber like you, and am in a similar boat on the East Coast. Work has been slowing down for us for months, but working for a big company, we tend not to get laid off. Last winter I worked about 25 hours a week for 4 months.
If you can find a job doing snow removal that can help if...
Okay. That's all really helpful. Thanks guys. Next question: I know there are different buckles on the S. Light, the big back pad is not stock on the s. Light, and the ring in the back is not rated for life support, but are there any other differences between the standard TM and the S. Light...
I'm not quite sure how I feel about a webbing bridge like the TreeAustria has. The Glide is the only saddle I've ever worked in, so I would like to stick with a rope bridge.
I do seem to be small for a climber. I'm about 140 lbs. One of the problems I have with the glide is that anytime I'm in spurs, or in a position where my weight is more in the saddle than the tree it gets uncomfortable pretty quickly.
