    Good deal on 3 strand?

Ok, ok.. My very first rigging rope was a 3 strand. It was cheap, and I didn't know the difference. I never have since seen a rope that coiled as much as that one did when lowering. The strength was there, but it was hard on the hands, stiff, and just overall hard to work with. My impression...

I want to “Shape” My Tree

Yes I recommended side pruning for deck clearance, and raising the lower branches to 8'. His response? "Well if that's all that needs done I can do it myself. Thanks for the advice." And I really think that that is what they will do.

    Dialing in the uni

I have worn out several unicenders , and that is all I use. The rope I am currently using is blue moon, but I have used imori as well, and velocity hot. I had custom tethers made for my arm length, and use it like a Blake's hitch, only SRS. So my unicender is above me most of the time...

I want to “Shape” My Tree

I had a request like that the other day in regards to 2 - 25' red maples between houses. I told them trees weren't meant to be be trimmed like bushes!

    Used GRCS wanted

The whole idea is to free up the mini so it can be used elsewhere on the job.

    Used GRCS wanted

Hi, just curious if someone out there has a GRCS that isn't being used enough to justify keeping it. We have a mini, but there are times that it would come in handy for us. Not opposed to buying new, but thought I would check. Please PM me if you are interested in selling, and we can work out...

    Angie's List contract?

It was their base plan, and I think it included only 5 or 6 leads per month. I made it very clear to the salesman I was not looking for more business , we already have more work coming in than we can get to. The only reason I was considering it was for the credit card processing savings, but...

    Angie's List contract?

They were offering me that I could pay a flat fee of $300 per month for the advertising contract, and process all my credit cards for free! That would have been a huge savings for me with my current credit card processing rates, but something didn't feel right. I didn't want Angie to have all...

    T540I chain

We are having trouble finding that chain! And apparently Husky does not offer a different sprocket for that saw. Why did they put a 43 gauge chain on it to begin with? And then Husky says that they are backordered till November.

Regrets going out on your own/words of caution?

Surround yourself with good people, learn to delegate - because your employees will think for themselves if you can give them confidence!! Learn to turn off - the phone, the desk time, and even think about something else. I still need to do better at that. Hire a secretary sooner than...

    Career awaits!!!

There's the point I like to see...incentive structures. In my opinion the hourly rate idea is broken. It is a baseline, but there is nothing in it to keep production up. They just have to be on the clock. If you can somehow tie bonuses to an increase of net revenue, you can tremendously...

    Problem leaner/barberchair.

I would recommend renting a mini-skid or full size skid, set a line, pull it up straight, and fell it the direction you want. If you get a decent tie-in it shouldn't take too much pulling power. By the looks of it I could pull that one with our Ditch Witch SK1050..

Sold my skidder to buy a compact track loader

I tried one, and was not impressed. It feels bulky, and the payload is really lacking for the size and weight.
