I encourage a lot of folks to let me leave the brush and to utilize firewood. Even having them call their neighbors in order to leave firewood. Hide brush and debris on their property, throw it over the bank. Make wildlife piles... I want to get into mushroom logs. Living in a bit more rural...
yo patrick,
replace your bridge! I think I was the one who told you to buy a cougar last year. I replaced mine with a piece of Safety blue that I had around. You need about 2 feet +/- to tie the knots.
we already had this talk via p.m. JUST REPLACE IT AND STOP WONDERING! Takes 2 cuts with a...
I was making a funny...i think? I just dont see the point. On another note, it would get broken real quick. I tried mounting a counter, a thumb clicky thing (for counting cut trees in the woods) in the same place and it got ripped off so quick I couldnt believe it.
but the tree missed the rock...another example of dumbing down our world. Certain tasks are supposed to take skill. That's why people call us to fell trees.
the workshop was fantastic. what a spot. great group of tree workers. This workshop was the closest I had ever been to a crane before, and now I feel confident in making a call to a crane co. to do future jobs.
In hindsite, the headsets were one of the best teaching tools at the class. They...
B.S. on you Oxman. I am an owner operator as well and that is not a fair excuse to use poor practices. See the bigger picture. We represent an industry. Rules and regs are made cos accidents happen.
Happy new year I hope you tipped the waitress at Dennys real good.
These are sweet machines. I have (well its in the shop now) a version from 1985 or something. Before it became the jonsered. The newer ones are way more rugged. They can drag a ton of brush, i hooked a log arch to it, pulled a fully suspended 25 inch, 12 foot section of white pine...
2001 toyota tacoma. 4 cylinder. extended cab. 21-24 mpg. 200,000 miles. going strong. use it for everything. i mean everything. well almost everything. Driven the 6 cylinder version. not impressed.
the sit back was where it went astray. it got caught on the front of the pulley, then the rope had direct contact against the heat shrink.
in that sense, i like spliced eyes better.
mr banjo. I am the guiltiest of the guiltiest about having to many slings and jangles all over the place...
Thanks guys. My only beef with the grizzly splice is that it is bulkier then a regular splice. In the case of using it as hitch cord it can get tangled up with other hardware, and i am using it with a hitch climber pulley.
thanks again
I have some beeline 10mm and its grizzly spliced for use as an eye to eye cord. It got crossed up somewhere and the heat shrink covering got ripped with zero damage to the stitching. Is it ok to remove the heat shrink stuff. I assume its not structural in this setup? But wanted to check.
thanks
Casey,
Thanks for putting up videos. It is a pretty awesome thing to do for other climbers. Now, I am as guilty as the next person, especially with a top handled saw, but try and shift your left hand to the top of the handle when making cuts...especially vertical cuts on branches using the tip...
