That makes me feel really good inside that you enjoyed it! That is what life is all about passing on to others what makes us personally happy in the hopes it will make you happy.

Be well!

ya know whats really cool though....doing things like the workshop and the connections w the people.I realize i may be stating the obvious here but i am so glad i got to meet some new people and spend some time with some guys i have met before!! !! im still cruisin from it!!

Its always great to get together with different arborist and learn new things. I walked away with some great tricks i used on yesterdays crane job. Thanks again folks!

Hey Guys:
I was wondering what you all thought of the communication sets you were using at the workshop. Some straight forward feedback would be appreciated.

Mark

the workshop was fantastic. what a spot. great group of tree workers. This workshop was the closest I had ever been to a crane before, and now I feel confident in making a call to a crane co. to do future jobs.
In hindsite, the headsets were one of the best teaching tools at the class. They allowed incredibly clear converstation between 3 people (climber, crane op, instructor) at all times. They were so clear that Dan remarked to me while I was up in the tree for about 2 minutes "to breathe, cos he hadnt heard a breath yet". I mighta been a bit scared.
Having Dan Mayer and Mark Chisholm in my ears guiding me through the slinging and cutting proccess was key. There was a lot of wind, and the sound of the crane, and lots of chatter, but the headsets were clear as a bell.
My only beef was that I kept getting the wire tangled in my gear. and made me feel like a spaz. Oh, and you cant wear ear muffs over them. that is lame. I guess they can be specially mounted inside the earmuffs.

Same problem too Chep, mine fell off several times before I gave in and just clipped it to a short strap with a keychain biner off the back of my saddle. It wasnt so much the wire as it was the falling off part that was annoying! But that was relatively minor overall, the rest was simply awesome. :)

Was I really the only one to flip upside down on the ride to 200'? :-P

Hey Mark you are asking about the digicom radios I was at the class also i did not get to use the radios but after the class i was talking to Mark Chisholm i told him about a crane job we were doing that next Tues. Because we live close to each other he let me borrow his set for the week i showed them to my guys they were not very impressed said they did not think they would be useful i asked them to try them for the job, after the third pick no one took the radios off for the rest of the day. We were so taken back by the crystal clear signal, how four people can talk all at the same time no waiting for someone to stop talking that is good if there is a dangerous situation the warning goes out in an instant.About the head sets there are four to choose from or if you want digicom can special fab your helmet ear protection for the most comfort.I ordered a set of three we have used them four times in two weeks not just for crane work,we find new uses for them each day.

I cant add anything that hasnt already been said really.

Run the wire down your shirt, and up from the bottom of your saddle and that solves that problem.

I prefer the slimline or monarch set when climbing, muffs fit over it well enough for me. They do also make the Extreme headsets which offer some hearing protection (you can always wear plugs under them).

Great people with terrific customer service!

Ask for Matt, tell him Mark and Jim sent you, he will take care of you.

SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO SIGN UP FOR TREE BUZZ BUT I WANT TO THANK MARK, JIM, BRIAN, DAN, AND ALL THE OTHER AMAZING INSTRUCTORS THAT MADE THIS CLASS AWESOME. I WOULD LOVE TO ATTEND ANOTHER ONE OF YOUR CLASSES.
