Matt Cornell Rope Saddle, from TreeStuff.com, fitted and fully kitted out - ready to work.
I knew this would be the best saddle/harness when Matt first presented it in his video three years ago - RIGHT. But, I did not think anything could be as comfortable as my NewTribe ProGear II -- WRONG...
Thanks, Tim. It's Watermark PRO app.
The Hard-wire Tether for the HH2 is made from 1/8" welding rod. When I lean back, it doesn't spread and slide down the biner like a 'soft' tether does. Works for me ... much less set-back.

The Unknotter
Great for untying 'axe-knots' without damaging the rope.
AND, if you can't get the knot unknotted ... it will open a beer ... then it won't matter ...
The OP asked "... what ... and why?", so ...
FWIW: Rope Wrench ... but, they ALL work and git-r-dun -- personal preference rules.
However, of all those listed (even RADS), the Rope Wrench is the only one that adds ZERO links in the life support chain.
"A chain is only as strong as it's...
Singing Rock Prusik Minder
To prevent a Prusik from jamming in a non-prusik-minding pulley.
Co-staring: The Cooper Hitch, The 'Stopped' Double-Overhand-Noose, and the Circus-Bowline (ABOK 1056).
Nice piece of kit, IMO:
