Matt Cornell Rope Saddle

This is interesting to me. The very first saddles were rope, and now we've basically come full circle. Everything old is new again. But for now I'll stick with my Edge.
I saw Matt's prototype in Charlotte a few years ago. It was built on an old Kuemmerling rope strung saddle that he had found somewhere. I climbed on that same saddle alomst 40 years ago when I was just starting out. No one at that time would climb on a leg loop saddle and thought I was nuts. Today you will have to go pretty far to find someone on a butt strap saddle. How the times change.

I will be upgrading from a weaver cougar to a new saddle in the next couple weeks. Anybody care to make a comparison to the tm? I know, like most tree gear, saddles are different from one person to another. Just wondering there are any glaring differences between the two that would sway me one way or the other.

I love mcrs. It's so comfortable and lite. I ord red size 2 and wonder if the leather padding is actually bigger on size 2 than 1. I felt like size 1 was more comfortable but I only had one belt hole left. The only negativ I've found is getting my boots through the leg loops when putting it on. No pinching and no discomfit anywhere. Loving it.

Matt Cornell Rope Saddle, from TreeStuff.com, fitted and fully kitted out - ready to work.
I knew this would be the best saddle/harness when Matt first presented it in his video three years ago - RIGHT. But, I did not think anything could be as comfortable as my NewTribe ProGear II -- WRONG. This saddle is more comfortable and every bit as bullet-proof as an Old, Heavy, leather belt/saddle/harness of long ago.
I would have loved the option of steel rings. But, I realized, this product is so well thought-out ... I do have that option. Steel rings could be added very simply if it ever seemed really necessary.
In short, fitting & customizing this saddle is very simple without the need for lots of holes and slots. This is the most customizable, comfortable and secure saddle available ... IMO.
Good job; Matt Cornell, Nick Bonner and Luke Dunlevy ... Thanks!

I was practically pulled out of my harness on friday by the weight of the big saw and the fact I have no body fat or hip bones ,
would it be possible to rig up a set of braces to attach to the MCrs it is something I really need to consider as by the time I was at the ground my reg grundies were hanging below my arse cheeks and its not a good look.
I am not a fan of braces and would prefer to get the harness spreading the load weight instead of just holding my pants up with the braces on my cutter pants.

is that what the small metal rings at the top? are for?

Love it. Actually like it better than the TM, but I can see in advance that this won't be the case with everyone.

I am keeping the leg loops in place with stopper knots in the leg loop ropes.

Am I throwing out my TM? No, but it's definitely been demoted to back up for a while.

As far as glaring differences between the TM and mcrs, the cornel sits higher on you hips. Single biggest difference in my mind. Easier to get in and out of the mcrs. Slightly higher chance of punching yourself with the mcrs.
