I think what is far more important here is what that says about the multitudes of gullible idiots who continue to support the egotistical, vindictive, lying moron and don't give any thought to the danger and embarrassment to our country that he represents.

    Knock off Rollgliss

Absolutely! It is easy to use one of these with a second bridge rope, with your regular multiscender just riding on the same rope above the Rollgliss. The Rollgliss effortlessly advances your main device and comes off the rope as soon as you get where you were headed. The things work great...

    Knock off Rollgliss

Interesting. Same 10 to 1 gear ratio as the Rollgliss. Modifying a Rollgliss still seems the cheaper way to go for any of us with tinkering capacity. They turn up on eBay regularly for quite a bit less than this device costs.

    Gear bags backpack?

I have a small tarp that is actually the removable rain fly off a little tent I used to have. Thin, really tough, tear-proof fabric, and about 5ft x 5ft, nice green colour for stealth rec climbing. Wads up about the size of an orange when I am not using it.

Throw line tricks and tips learned over the years

One thing I found using the one I bought (3/8 inch size) is that if I am using it with my smaller 10mm rope, the rope can slip out if I relax tension on the tail side when pulling it up. Stays tight and grips fine as long as I pull down a bit, but works fine on the larger, normal size 11 and...

Throw line tricks and tips learned over the years

Found it! This is where I bought mine. These are made from very heavy monofilament - no metal at all. Mine has held up perfectly for six years and the 3/8 in. size seemed just right. It expands easily over my normal ropes. The 1/4 in. size might be even better. I think it would expand just...

I think a huge part of the problem is that it costs an absolute fortune to run for office in this country, even at the local or state level. Air time costs thousands per second for campaign aids, printed stuff and mass mailings ditto. Right here locally even the candidates for county...

    Gear bags backpack?

Right, a bloody pain trying to pull rope into a normal backpack bag flopping over constantly. But the ones for serious trekking and mountaineering that have an aluminium frame seem to work OK and can be leaned upright against a tree for support. The two Kelties I have also have extra pouches...

Throw line tricks and tips learned over the years

There is a brand of these finger trap thingies for pulling electrical cable that are made of some kind of really tough synthetic plastic strands and not metal wire. I use one for pulling my climbing line up so it slips through tight crouches OK. Fairly regular use now for six years without any...

Notice all the GOP leadership voted to keep him. Their majority in the House was more important than his criminal behavior. Says a lot about the Party of Law and Order and Family Values.

Tall Cottonwood = scary? Made to top!

What is that lovely green rope on the right?

    Compact Bulldog Bone

Tending from the top pivot point at the very rear of the upper arm works a treat too.

    Skylotec & Husqvarna Power Ascender

From the manual it appears the thing is rather particular about the size of the rope, limiting it to both a maximum and minimum of 11mm. Another advantage our Rollgliss units have; with the right mods they work with anything you shove in them. While it is happiest with the usual sized rope at...

    Skylotec & Husqvarna Power Ascender

Thanks, Bart. Yes, am doing OK. Trying to get in a regular climb to stay in shape, weather permitting. I have not had any paying work since the Great Pandemic but fortunately had just gone on my full social security. So am basically retired now. Time to get after my own projects and enjoy...

    Skylotec & Husqvarna Power Ascender

The only mods we are doing to the Rollgliss are merely those to make it mid-line attachable and to hook a drill to it. The unit itself is an industrial quality device made exactly for what we are using it for, rope ascent and descent. Granted, not everyone is tooled up to do the mods as far as...

    Skylotec & Husqvarna Power Ascender

I thought about doing that to mine but I really like the ability to quickly remove the DeWalt and use it as a drill. I have quite a few dozen climbs now with my DeWalt/Rollgliss, mostly when I was hauling up more than minimal gear with me. Normally, when rec climbing, especially when I have to...

    Anyone using Phantom 11mm?

I tried some Phantom that was a remnant on sale at WesSpur and had some occasional slippage issues with my ZigZag/RopeWrench combo. Also slipped on my adjustable BDB until I ran the adjustment all the way in. It is surprisingly soft for a static rope, knots well so far. Seems to flatten out...

    Famous tree destroyed by vandals

I feel strongly that moving past the anger in a positive way involves justice and closure; the arseholes that did this need to pay. They have apparently also arrested an older guy in addition to the 16 year old. An important aspect of punishment is the deterrent value that might make other...

    Famous tree destroyed by vandals

This makes me sick at heart. I saw this amazing tree as a young student hiking along Hadrian's Wall, half a century ago. A local fellow told me then that the tree was at least 300 years old. It was World famous. There have been positively millions of photos taken of it. Who would have done...
