That’s a big’n. A couple of things that I’ve learned about Water Oaks is they can’t handle pruning back to laterals very well (sapwood rot infects the cuts). And the bark has the same effect of a cheese grater on your skin.
The zig zag had at least two different injury reports (if I’m not mistaken) that lead to two different recalls. Certifications didn’t seem to prevent the failures.
The BDB is a bit beefier than most devices in the pin area that holds it together. I’ve always appreciated how bombproof it is.
