Clogger Spider. Don't use them that much in Trees, because they're not chainsaw protective, I currently use the Pfanner Arborist for saw use, might get some from PSS soon, they are the lightest, most breathable, but not great pockets, or the Arbortec breatheflex pro. I know the Clogged Zeros are...
Ah, very smart, I was thinking of a regular bowline at the end, which has no advantage (or disadvantage really) over an alpine at the end. I rarely use a bowline with a bight, so I didn't really have it on my radar. I might start using that technique myself though. Usually it's an alpine with a...
That carabiner has a huge design flaw, I feel safer on a simple twistlock than that thing. It can very easily happen that while opening it you continue to twist he locking sleeve, turning it into its "locked" position with the gate still open. This prevents the gate from closing at all.
Yeah, I see that a lot with new people I train at work, we only use full body harnesses, and if I take them out tree climbing and give them a sit harness they feel a little unsafe. I used to really hate tops on harnesses, until I attached a chest ascender, it makes having a top worth it to me...
There really is not much point in using a friction saver for SRT, although I almost always do, I love the versatility the Teufelberger Multisaver gives me for equalizing or redundancy, especially in small wood, and being able to pull out lots of redirects easily is great. I almost never climb...
I usually just ignore the upper D's. Left side gets used for lanyard storage though. Sometimes I switch to the uppers when on spurs though.
Wait, how much longer is the second bridge? I thought is was just a few centimeters or so, variance in production. If it's quite a bit longer then it...
Do you have a 2019 model Sequoia or older? On the 2019 model, put the longer one in the bottom hole.
I use the lower D's for my lanyard 95% of the time (a little bit less when on spurs).
This is with a Treemotion though, with my Sequoia I rarely use any D rings, it's all either one of the...
I use those for rock climbing. I don't consider them pricy at all, I usually wear fjällräven pants, those are about double that of the 5.11. More durable too.
The treerex deployment method is cool, but the pouch is tiny. A 4" Isreali bandage would be tight already, definitely not getting a tourniquet in there.
A grigri or similar would work too, we were thinking about that at work the other day for a giant ropeswing. And we have plenty of old Lorys or Eddys to use for that.
Depending on yue system I'm running, I like the device to stay in one orientation. This is especially when using descenders with a lever, like the Sirius, which I use a lot. Also, on a spar it saves me 2" in system length, and there is no point in a swivel there. I almost always hook my RW or...
I use the large Petzl swivel, very happy with that. Can fit three biners, and I can still pass most gates through there with one extra carabiner in there. Also nice round edges.
It's safe to run a hitch on a wire core, bit it won't be cut resistant. Here in Germany it's not allowed to do any cutting (with a chainsaw, handsaw is ok) if you're using a hitch as your adjuster. If your local guidelines don't care, or you're just unsing that side of the lanyard for advancing...
I think the captiv has some value fir devices that you can leave the carabiner in, but you need a loose connection for the device or parts to move. The Taz lov3, Petzl I'D and Skylotec Sirius come to mind. For permanent connections for devices like a Zigzag, Akimbo, positioner, etc. you could...
Yeah, that's what I did, needed to drill a second hole on the bottom, and grind the ends of the tubes a millimeter shorter, they wouldn't fit in the recesses, I think that was due to poor tolerances, it was a cheap aftermarket one. Feels sturdy though. I knew there was going to be a lot more...
A friend of mine snagged the display unit from our dealer about a month ago, he said they won't have any more till early 2022. Apparently all manufacturers are having trouble with supply, my Husqy/Pfanner dealer told me the other day. This is in Germany btw.
I was really surprised how light it...
