    Hydrophobic soil

My experience at my house this season was the first waterings seemed like it was beading up and sheet draining off the crusty/hard soil surface…. Eventually, second time around there would be some decent soil penetration achieved, it just took some patience…. Slow and low flow is key. It’s...

@evo sorry about the link… yes pretty much, but more from grow at home kits, and improper disposal.

    TCIA Tailgate Safety Manual.

One thing I liked about the TCIA book, is you could submit for CEUs if memory serves well(?). I’ll look into this for sure as well. Thanks for the tip.

More crud to fuel the existential dread…

What started as a gourmet mushroom may be turning into a large-scale unintended biological invasion with potentially serious consequences for forest fungal communities and the ecosystem. Worth paying attention to….. especially for any of us working in the trees. White rot…. There’s the quick and...

Question on life support carabiners with auto locking bypass feature

For me, I love the chunky steel snaps found on most steel core lanyards…. There are enough reports of those ISC snaps opening or failing without all three actions being intentionally engaged that it makes me question how much we should rely on “compliance” alone. At the end of the day, we’re...

@Reach im not surprised at all. I didn’t look into it as much as you, but I could smell it a couple states away.

Question on life support carabiners with auto locking bypass feature

@Phil ”It has a feature that prevents auto locking....” I think that statement isn’t entirely accurate. When the gate is opened, then closed, it is in the locked position. Ultimately, your decision to remove these from service for new climbers is yours to make, and I wouldn’t fault you for...

Question on life support carabiners with auto locking bypass feature

Question on life support carabiners with auto locking bypass feature

I like these biners. They automatically lock when gate is snapped closed. Never been a concern for me. Makes life just a little easier when setting up hitch based systems. Not a deal breaker one way or the other for me. Send me your ORCAs if you don’t like them.

    Stump Cut Troubles

@Dan Thornton just for a data point: How does the saw cut everywhere else leading up to the stump cut? I think @Bart_ and @Reach nailed it though.
