I've never been a fan of new standards but.......

Better be a damned good excuse for something that ridiculous, what good is team development if one teammate is dead? Something that all of the standards and regs fail to address, some people are simply not cut out to work in dangerous trades. It does not mean they are less of a person by any...

I've never been a fan of new standards but.......

Tree crews could be compared to sailing crews, you need trust for success and survival. If someone endangers the the crew they get tossed overboard. In the old world one might even be so embarrassed and ashamed they'd throw themselves over. When it's life and death there's no time for patty...

Common sense says, don't cut rope. Sounds like common sense was lacking on this job, not standards.

Need some advice on a trolley system

My guess is yes, a grcs could tension the rope with 500lbs on it in that config. Sorry though I don't know for sure. I only ever used that setup with brush and a chipper winch, it worked well enough. I learned it from a vid posted on this site some years ago, thought it was oldfart but can't...

Need some advice on a trolley system

It looks like one of the lower trees might be tall enough to make a slow line, meaning anchor a rope as high as possible in a downhill tree, attach load to rope with slings as you would a speed line, redirect rope uphill and tension rope with a skidsteer, truck, grcs, etc. load will float up to...

Sounds pretty interesting all the way around. I worked for only one day cutting burned trees, I think it was the dirtiest work I have ever done.

    SR.Timeline

A post in another thread made me curious about the timeline of srt coming into trees in particular about what different gear came around at what time. This thread is talking unicender in 05, seems like it was around before this thread as well...

    System vs Technique

Could you explain the specific differences and give an example of how you would use each in a different instance?

    System vs Technique

Yes, the presence of a system is a given. If you can use your srs to climb mrt how is that designation (srs) helpful?

    This is the Akimbo

The only major difference I noticed was one point of adjustment versus 2, Other than that they're pretty damn similar.

    System vs Technique

No component has been added or subtracted, you have the same system. The system has not changed just the way it is utilized, ie the technique.
