Okay. Question. Different White Pine - Can a large white pine suffer from pine weevil? A large white pine I came across recently had much of its canopy die back and what looked like many tiny holes all through the bark. The client said they had it treated/injected for Pine Weevil, but years...
PA sent out a revised list because so many people responded with waivers. https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/6816301/REVISED-Pennsylvania-list-of-essential-and-non.pdf
Yeah,
a) Are tree companies considered to have physical locations / may not continue physical operations?
b) I don't quite know where we fit in the list...
c) What are all these businesses supposed to do to survive?
d) We are all going to DIE!!!!!
...um, One is a feline and the other is a rodent. ;)
Richard Mumford's method of categorizing rope techniques. CAT stands for Climber Anchored Technique. RAT stands for Remote Anchor Technique. In thinking about the techniques in this way it really helps in understanding the mechanical...
Aren’t we talking applications in Climber Anchored systems (Ddrt) rather than remote anchored (srt)? The benefits really shine in that this OAR version is much more suited for Ddrt. The CBDB is a sweet RAT/SRT device, but lacks a smooth transition into CAT/DdRT. You can use the CBDB with a...
Hrmm. I tried it in real life... I think it doesn't perform like I wanted it to. It puts a bend in the rope, it's just that it almost bypasses the ring when the attachment point is on that side. Maybe it is worth playing around with a bit more, but I keep going back to the original "Brocky"...
Yeah, that was a concern of mine when I was setting the stopper. Looked like it would take some doing but possibly could squeeze through. I was fiddling with larger stoppers, but I like your solution. More fool proof.
@Brocky have you ever tried putting the attachment point in the twist? I mean:
I haven’t climbed on it yet, but it seemed to put much more of a bend in the rope. It felt like it worked when I was bench testing it.
@SamNQ I think if you incorporate it into how you climb and work a tree you will use it. I have mine on my harness at all times - on one side of my 25' lanyard. Although I don't use it every climb, having it with me, I find uses that really can speed things up. Besides the obvious intended...
So this is making me contemplate coming off my mechanicals. I like how simple it is and cheap. I was just playing around with it today (not in a tree) and found it to be a little tight on the tending. I see some of you are placing a pulley beneath to help with tending. I discovered that you...
@surveyor can you explain this a bit more. I am guessing this is the adjustable bulldog bone's little brother intended to be a lanyard adjuster. What rope size range does it allow? Same functionality as the ss BOLA just adjustable?
Too much going on this year, can't make it. However, I will say to everyone else that Steve is a great presenter and he really knows his stuff on this topic. I saw him a few years back do a similar presentation at the expo and it was the highlight of the entire program for me! Great info...
