When most accidents involve the front end of a vehicle, and the Isetta's ONLY door comprises almost the entire front end? Not so cool.

Cut my first hard-leaner today behind my niece's house in Virginia Beach. Silver maple, and I admit I was a bit nervous about it. Made a slight face cut (had to cut through a burl on the way) less than 1/5th the diameter, made a horizontal plunge cut, then cut the trigger. The other leaner...

Common problem with most of the latest generation. Seems their biggest talent is using their thumbs to press buttons/touch-screens. They're not mechanically inclined nor mechanically creative ... and most of that boils down to math, geometry and physics.

best motorcycle for bidding tree jobs

Whoa. With an attitude like that, do you ever ask why anyone "needs" a Corvette? I've had a couple ol' guys banter me about wasting fuel while filling up my (gas) Excursion. It wasn't so much that I needed it for towing my 24' enclosed car trailer ... I just wanted it ... and I now find I...

best motorcycle for bidding tree jobs

I've been riding since 1973, but if I wanted to portray a sense of professionalism when initially visiting a client, I would NOT be on my bike ... and my bike is quiet. Arrive on a loud H-D and your chances of being successful may be hurting before you even open your mouth. WE are aware of the...

New truck for me. 2011 F350 Landscape Dump

Well, since I picked mine up from Mrs. Cox, there was no shipping box. Thanks anyway. 9k? That's all? My V10 Excursions weighed about 8k each.

New truck for me. 2011 F350 Landscape Dump

Nice. Will be interesting to see how they hold up after a few winters. I like storage boxes, so I gotta' ask: Did you ever acquire a box for storing/toting the Wraptor? I keep may saws in boxes, and the Wraptor's exterior components are not really conducive to having it thrown in the truck...

New truck for me. 2011 F350 Landscape Dump

So you don't think it needs a bath? Fortunately, the folks I do work for know I don't haul anything away ... always leave it for the homeowner to dispose ... but I will cut limbs into manageable sizes. Hauling away debris may open up more work for me, but I work too cheap to be...

New truck for me. 2011 F350 Landscape Dump

Nice truck, ML. 2WD or 4WD? My old 2005 Excursion had the 6.8L V10 and I averaged 11MPG around town, but would get over 13MPG towing my open car trailer to Carlisle and back.

    Questions for Ropetek Wraptor owners

I always use premixed fuel for that very reason. If I'm going to run one of my saws through a few tanks in one day, I'll mix some fuel, but I'll always end the day with premix in the tank. Hmmm ... makes me wonder if any groundies secure the Wraptor to a base tie-off, then use it to hoist a...

    Questions for Ropetek Wraptor owners

I'm an older (58 y.o.) part-time hack and the idea of owning a bucket truck is way out of my league. Besides, most of the requests I get are in areas where a truck can't access. Hence, I recently bought a new Wraptor. It was somewhat convenient in that Ropetek is located only a 2-hour drive...

Define yourself; what do you call yourself

Or we could follow August Hunicke's lead and refer to ourselves as "Monkey Beavers." Hmmm ... maybe not a good idea because August has probably filed for a trademark on that term and associated imagery.

Define yourself; what do you call yourself

I'm an overgrown weed-eater, but you can call me a Hack. At my 9-to-5, actually my 6-to-3 job, I'm an industrial engineer.

Vertical positioning, yes. I use a Large Petzl ID with my 1/2" (13mm) climbing rope. It's used for both ascending & descending in a RADS set-up.

Hitch Hiker 2 (HH2) for sale, used

Thanks for the input. I have already begun planning on how I would lower the Wraptor without running the rope through a crotch. My intention is to reduce/eliminate any damage to the rope ... many options to consider there ... but I admit I was curious about the amount of friction if lowered...
