I don’t remember. I think along CA Hwy 50? It was one of those highways on the west slope of the Sierras.
It wasn’t particularly tall, but it was in a majestic position right on the edge of a slide and near a scenic overlook.

Maybe 1996? Used rock climbing aiders and Clog ascenders to get into a big tree, and immediately switched over to Ddrt. I also prussiked into a tree I didn’t want to hip thrust into around that time.

Pinus sabiniana, aka Grey pine, Foothill pine, etc. gets a bad rap with climbers.
But the copious nuts from it’s formidable cones are delicious!! For availability and flavor, I’m putting these on par with blackberries and apples!

I have been through dozens or hundreds of “safety stand downs” that have done very little to bolster awareness, because the details are insufficient to clearly illustrate what occurred.
