I'm not sure I follow? Do you mean for an adjustable bridge connection? I am not thinking of how that would be beneficial. Not to say it isn't I just can't picture it.
I rather enjoy playing around and challenging normal configurations and standards. By all means, go on.
I'd love a miny Cali, about 2/3rds the size of the original with a full radius on the bridge contact area. I don't get how CMI took such a simple and useful idea. Then executed it so poorly. I can even think of how I would machine the geometry on a 4 axis mill in two operations.
Similar to the...
It works extremely well, I have started giving them away, to people that want to run a longer lanyard but hate tending them. The best cordage so far is 8mm accessory, this old 1/2", 16 strand stuff is kinda bulky for my taste. Taking the core out is ket to getting the right amount of grip. As...
Oh when choking I never use a carabiner, simply install the rigging line. Set a slipknot on the working end to hold the line from falling out, adjust the length between the rings to cinch how you please.
Never mix life support and rigging gear,
This is what I use for LIGHT general rigging, Made up of random stuff I had on hand. I like how flexible it is. I can choke a spar, or use just the pulley and tie it off, for tip tie rigging. It is remotely retrievable. I would NOT use it for negative rigging anything over ~100 lbs with a very...
Here is my newest version. I was running the hook on a dedicated hank and only taking it on the odd climb. This way I hope to use it more often. I'll be getting a New Tribe Easy Rigger Saddle Bag or something likely as it is a ton of rope to manage. Time will tell if I can remain sane with this...
Why would you run this config over connecting to the 'beaner? I just can't imagine how it would run / handle better? Perhaps easier for disconnecting the 'beaner from the system, but I don't know why that would matter? I have a Rook I don't use for anything.... hmmm haha
I have tried both configurations and notice a slight difference. The hitch engagement seems to be more related to the length of the legs and the "finish" or how the lengths differ. If the lower leg of the hitch or the upper leg (to the wraps) engages first. Also how much memory the cordage has...
This Yale 12.6mm Kernmaster / Beeline combo is slippy, it's a super new rope. So maybe it just needs a wash and some wear in time, right now it won't creep from a stop. It does gently slide to a stop when releasing the hitch while bombing. Kinda neat "soft" stop, kinda unsettling feeling like...
I have nothing too solid to offer as I'm still in the early stages of building from nothing.
My strategy is to have a small value car to run around for the business, personal and rot in the salty winter. While my work truck sits as much as possible. Even as the company (hopefully) grows and I...
This is amazing information and makes sense to me. Do I fully understand it, not really in the sense of pure math, I can follow along but wouldn't trust myself make the calculations approaching limits. That's okay as long as I respect it and don't take for granted the forces involved. I am just...
I generally "finish" a friction hitch so it ever so slightly favors loading the upper leg first. This may be done by moving the entire hitch by dressing the cordage; wrapping your hand around the hitch, rotating the hitch on the rope; or disconnecting the leg in question, twist then...
@John@TreeXP I was interested to see if the consistency of a cylinder, the slic pin. Would run any different than the original when the orientation shifts around slightly causing inconsistent friction. I never really noticed a big change due to this, it's just an idea in my head lol. I'm not...
With a carabiner on the Quicky, there is less clearance and the tail of the rope rubs more so on the carabiner spine. Really the Quicky isn't ideal for a few reasons, distance pin to the arch is too short. Causing a few annoying binding / slack tending issues in less than ideal orientations; the...
I finally picked up a couple of Quickies, the cheaper cast ones. They are okay seemingly on the original HH. They did bind up a bit when they unweighted the reweighted behind the body of the HH. 8mm Beeline, Knut 4 wraps, dreamy.
