BEST adjuster for pitchy rope lanyards?

I also run a zillion and don't have too many problems with pitch. I do quite a bit of work in white pines and haven't really had any problems with the zillion. Saying that I am aware of where I run my lanyard when possible but obviously you can't always keep it off of the pitchy spots. I would...

    Resistograph

I would second hiring someone to do it. Having someone who does it all of the time and actually understands what the results mean would be more beneficial than renting one and trying to understand the results by yourself. I spent the last two days at a workshop where the inventor of the...

    "DRT" systems

Tropical ivy, I'm pretty sure it's 11.7mm. I've also used blue moon and vortex. The vortex is 13mm and doesn't work as well with the zz, but the 11.7 pretty much falls through the zz

    "DRT" systems

My climbing is split probably 60-40 between ddrt and srt. When I climb doubled I use a ZZ. It is a awesome piece of gear! I climbed on hitches for around 5-6 years and I wouldn't give up the ZZ without a fight lol. Its soo smooth, tends slack like a dream, self tends with not much rope weight...

Come along vs block & tackle

I work in cottage country so there are usually lots of adjacent trees to rig from (we are talking storm damage here). Taking trees off a structure is pretty straight forward and to be honest I never tried a B+T for lifting, always used a come along. You get lots of lifting power from a come...

Come along vs block & tackle

Come along for storm damage-trees on houses. B+T for pulling stems/trees over. Don't carry the come along on the truck it stays in the shop, but the 5:1 is always in the truck. The company where i'm working now has a grcs so I don't see a come along being that useful for storm work if the grcs...

    Job Offer

From your post steve it seems like you are leaning towards staying where you are? It sounds like your situation at the moment isn't ideal and this offer is a glimpse of hope for something better. When you are feeling sick and tired of your job stuff like this can make you think a lot lol. I just...

Fines for climbing dead ash trees

I completely agree. There are very few trees that lifts or cranes can't do. And if clients leave a tree long enough that it's too far gone to climb then that's too bad but my life is worth a lot more than some dead tree that a client decided not to deal with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Fines for climbing dead ash trees

Crazy monkey haha he's a bit crazy himself. I would take whatever he says with a grain of salt. I have worked on a contract for the city of missisauga and it was part of the contract that climbing any ash tree was prohibited. They will do whatever it takes to get the tree down without climbing...

    Best chainsaw pants

The arbortecs are nice pants for sure but the material isn't quite as rugged as the pfanners. I've already got a hole in my arbortecs from catching them on a stub while climbing.

    Best chainsaw pants

The pfanner vents are the best saw pants that I have owned and I've tried quite a few different ones. I wear saw pants everyday from the cold months to the stupid hot days of summer. I'm on my second full season of the pfanners and although i have a few other pairs that I cycle through I can...

Super classic pain in the ass.

Can't really add anything to this thread other than you need to buy a wrench now lol. Trust me you will love it for ascending. Rope walking ddrt feels like moving in slow motion once you have started ascending and climbing srt.

    Lanyard Combo

I've been rockin the new zillion lanyard from petzl for over a year now and I love it. The rope that comes with it is a 12 strand I believe and it is great. It is stiff enough that it flips well but not too stiff. Prior to that setup I was using a 16 strand (hi-vee I think) lanyard with...

    Climbers that wear chainsaw pants

I wear saw pants all day everyday and have for the last 6 or 7 years. I was getting my pants from a company in Quebec for a while but the crotches didn't seem to last for too long so I switched a few years ago. I have a pair of the Francital pants and they are pretty good but my personal...
