    Winter is coming....

As someone mentioned, get a face mask. My favorite is made by Gator and is simple, made of neoprene. They have other variation with fleece and neoprene but this one is my favorite. The neopreen can be trimmed easily with sharp scissors. You will be amazed how much warmer you'll be with this...

What to buy first? And where to look for it?

Yep, gotta do the math and figure it out. It wont work for every truck. That truck is 25,950 gvwr and I'm not sure what it weighs in the current configuration but, you cant expect to put a Prentice loader on it and have margin for a large haul. It's not a 1 size fits all suggestion and has some...

What to buy first? And where to look for it?

My only concern is not having enough room in the roll-off for the tree unless if you chip the tree but then you have another rental expense if you dont own the chipper. Also, what about the larger material and loading it into the roll-off.

What to buy first? And where to look for it?

I cant speak to the chipper but I have been thinking a lot about what I think would make a great truck. Here is what I have been thinking... biggest truck I can get without a CDL and has a knuckle boom. Then I would turn the bed into a dump and build some collapsible or retractable sides/roof...

Helper Not Wanting to Work in Bad Weather

Sounds like hes not your employee, just someone who helps you. There is a huge distinction between the two. Might be time you hire and employee instead of a helper and on jobs that are large enough, with good weather, you can bring on your helper to help your employee. Other option is to have a...

    English or Black Walnut?

I had a guy bring me two logs for milling and we split the lumber. He thought it was Black Walnut but it didnt have the rich dark heart wood you expect from a BW. I was thinking it might be an English Walnut. We dont see too many EW in out area but there is plenty of BW. Bark is more silver and...

Makes sense. I was looking at the mini... have to put more consideration in to the loads I'll be working with and the equipment ratings. Mini might not be ideal if I want to use it down on the ground as well. Thanks.

For anyone following this, I just bought some rigging equipment; 200' of 1/2" Nystron Safebloc loopie (3-5') Notch V3 Quickie (x2) Throw Line kit (no more mason line lol) I was thinking about a Notch Rapid Rig but a Daisy chain knot is so fast that I think Im going to hold off for now. Next...

Funny, I just bought one last night. I was considering a rigging wrench but the more I learned about the safebloc the more it seemed to fit my needs and I like the versatility when combined with a portawrap.

Thanks, I'm sure with experience it will come more natural. I need to remember to leave some stubs up high near some medium sized unions so that I have them as a rigging option... Thanks for your advice.
