I think there may have been another thread about my question but I missed it and was wondering if anyone could help me out...
I heard there was a hitch that doesn't twist the rope as it goes through (which leads to hockles eventually)
Found a thread about hockles but not the hitch I had heard...
Re: Small Harness\' For Production Climbers
i'm probably a 29" properly fitted and the tree motion doesn't quite do it for me. even at it's smallest it doesn't sit very well on these hips/waist. anyone got experience on the glide-lite?
Also, originally I was trying to decide between the 562 and the 372. I liked the weight/power ratio of the 562 best but the store owner steered me to the 372, he said it was tried and true and because the 562 is all electronic, if something goes wrong it's really tough (and expensive)...
Cory,
I found that with a 372 you REALLY wanna avoid running it out of fuel. I wasn't use to that when I ran 460's, we would run it out, fill it up and start 'er up. with the 372 if I run it out i'm pulling about fifty times, at least, to get it started again. with that in mind, I have no...
If you can get a more appropriate-for-the-site tree planted upon removal of whatever tree is up for discussion, however misguided the removal, do the arguments not become moot? plant trees.
~why manufacture, purchase, distribute and disperse literal poison? let's find another way, we, as a...
Thanks I will. It's a stand alone tree in the middle of a backyard in quaint suburbs, surrounded by lawn with flowers planted around the base. I will let you know what I find.
Any thoughts on how a mature red maple (30" dbh 70') could appear healthy last autumn and not have a single leaf this spring? In Connecticut.
The homeowner noticed nothing unusual (obvious insects, etc.) and I have not been into the crown yet.
Thanks!
I am curious about the decay. I understand the buttresses are 'see-through', however are they solid? Is there internal decay and if so to what extent? I am asking for my own knowledge base regarding Linden in New England. Thanks!
I was reducing a kousa and found these critters on a single leaf. On the same leaf are the egg sacs. The critters were moving so fast I couldn't believe they hadn't spread to surrounding leaves, there were like twenty of them. They appear too big to come from those egg sacs but I can think of...
Re: Whole Tree Chipper Two Man Minimum Rule Adopti
infra-red. is there any liberal logic out there that I am missing? what would make thermal imaging unfeasible in this application?
So, I put in a bid somewhere between the cost of two chainsaws and 35k. The owner said he wanted to talk to the big company and get them to price out the felling separately from the logging and other work that will come after and he would get back to me.
He got back to me and said he wanted to...
Re: Whole Tree Chipper Two Man Minimum Rule Adopti
the background is "zeroed" so that the camera does not register it. there are numerous ways of accomplishing this.
Re: Whole Tree Chipper Two Man Minimum Rule Adopti
just a tiny little infrared cam, rudimentarily calibrated, placed over the mouth of the chipper, inset behind some plexi, two little wires hooked up to an automatic shut-off. a little red paint to show the zone of sensitivity...
Great thoughts you guys. Thank you.
My estimate was right around yours, that there could be ~2000.
I was estimating (not very educatedly) 1 acre per day, so that is helpful to hear, chep, that 1/2 acre is probably closer to reality.
TreeLogic,
I wish I could work on it two months straight...
