Congrats to everyone. Seeing all the shared sportsmanship and support. The media is getting it more right all the time.
Thanks for letting us put on a recreational climb tree. We installed 4 rope stations and had around 20 people try climbing-- from a three year old on up to [undisclosed]! Wish...
I couldn't get away today to help set up. Boss got wise and flooded me with paperwork. Paperwork that needed to be done, but, man, its just not the same...
Walked the site Friday and then Sunday evening. I could see the events in their places in many of these trees.
Weather is supposed to be...
Re: How to be an Excellent Climber---from the Grou
A good groundie knows how to tie off the climber's DdRT tail until the climber repents. (Thank's Tom. How long was I left up there?)
Where is the disconnect with folks that do stuff like this?

The Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle is the scene of a crime. Staffers noticed Wednesday that the Keteleeria evelyniana, one of the arboretum's...
Forwarding the oval or egg-shaped washer idea:
What about fastening one of the faceplates so that it doesn't rotate but keeping it fixed in an upright position? Without taking into consideration how one would make it not rotate, would there be the right space between ascender and faceplate to...
Which one or both is it, tree branch struck bus or bus struck rope?
Either way it doesn't sound like good work zone management. From the rips in the limbs of the tree in the background I don't have to imagine much the methods [not] employed.
Bad day for many people.
The flop off comes when shifting from stirrup to the device and one slides their hand up, slacking the tail a bit. This area of the RADS is 2:1, so there's more rope streaming through. No biggie. Its just a little indicator that you're not in the max efficiency 'groove'.
I can see where it...
Pretty interesting. Certainly streamlined-- when in use and stowed while in the tree.
Would you find the close proximity of your hand to help keep the rope in the pulley? Like in those rare situations where I've seen it flop out. There's one part of the RADS cycle where the rope changes its...
Its near the top of the list of trees that have distinctly different leaves on a single tree.
Poison ivy and Mulberry. Hmm.
In Dallas they seem to attractors for bad pruning techniques and their proprietors.
Habitat: fence lines, adjacent to foundations, sidewalks and driveways (able to...
I recall a power equipment instructor recommending cleaning a filter to only blow the air from the inside out. That seemed like great logic but I was amazed how many students got it wrong on the test. What's the current thinking about this?
Sounds like they are getting really gunked up.
Sorry to hear about your losses.
When my rig got unloaded the police asked for serial numbers of the gear. The pawn shops are on a network that register their incoming equipment. I would hope chainsaw repair shops do the same.
Glad you still have your climbing gear. Several climbing harnesses...
Spoiler alert on the video.
-Do we all wear plaid shirts?
-No brain bucket.
-Usually works for a lawn service or garden center.
Does ANYONE on TB work for either?
-Nice chainsaw work. What is that, 1/2" limb, max?
-Waiting to do those decorative shapes.
The ones that look like "$$$"...
>how long do you give a tree like that till its beyond help?
Not long.
Saw some trees like these out in Mesquite/Duncanville last year. Now they're so dead they've been removed.
Nothing is wrong if the job is also in black and white and being introduced by Rod Serling [get that theme song running in your head].
If an HR person is hiring for these qualifications and a modern arborist shows up, would they even recognize the difference?
Hmm, chemo-synaptic response.

I read 'Secret Life' when I was a kid. Some of the conclusions in there I was skeptical at the time, and still am. Anyways, the book was probably something that helped me along the road to pick a career working with plants.
I've been using 192Ts for about 4 years. Occasionally the thought is, "I wonder how a 200T would work here" but never, "I wish I had a 200T for this"--- YET.
192T beats the heck out of my Echo 341 Boat-Anchor Vibromatic.
If it gets your job done better/cheaper/faster/safer and you have some...
