Texas

Congrats to all of the climbers !!! That was one heck of a fun competition !! Had a great time seeing old friends and meeting many ones. Dorian is the MAN by the way...he was on the ground for a total of about 10 minutes over both days...it was a pleasure to meet and work with you and I absolutely look forward to meeting up again. (you had better not come through KY without stopping in !!)

This was by far the most impressive Master Climb that I have seen in Texas. The set up was excellent and the skills displayed by Jimmy, Miguel, Abram, Cormac, and Jimmy S. were truly inspirational to watch.

Congrats to Nevic, Keith, Guy, Marcus, Vince, Tom, Jim, Chris, Dorian, and everyone who made this event run as smoothly as it did. Can't wait to see everyone next year in Texas !!!

(ps. Sushi-Sake (www.sushi-sake.com)had some of the freshest and otherwise hard to find fish I have ever had in the States....don't miss it if you pass through Plano !!!)

Thanks alot Rich,we are very grateful for all that you do.Man I would buy you sushi dinner if it didnt cost so much. But hey I do buy alot of your splices(JL MATHEWS) so maybe that will cover it.Really though thanks man you really help alot!

Congrats to everyone. Seeing all the shared sportsmanship and support. The media is getting it more right all the time.

Thanks for letting us put on a recreational climb tree. We installed 4 rope stations and had around 20 people try climbing-- from a three year old on up to [undisclosed]! Wish we could have done more, but one of our objectives was to let them have a complete climb and not run a gauntlet.

On a technical note, the biggest difficulty was getting their foot loop prussik to work, adjusting from the previous climber to a 30lb kiddie or a 240lb proud parent.

All the stations had Unicenders and they worked just fine.

Yeah, but if we would have stayed with a certain suggested AR scenario, it could certainly have been refined to something like this:
Got to be the Luckiest Creature Alive!

The tree was a old 100 foot pecan with a beatiful wide spread. Apart from the wind blowing me around, it was a terrific experience to see all the climbs up close.
Great too to work with Rich Hattier who was the tech on the ground.

Dorian, Dorian, Dorian. This is like the day you took me out to climb that "80 foot" bald cypress that was barely 55 feet. We gotta work on your height estimating skills, man. This pecan, which was gorgeous, was 90 feet tops. Still a long way up when nature calls though, eh?

Seriously though, thanks so much for hanging out up there for us, and for assisting in my workshop. And to Rich H. for all he did, including "guest lecturing" in my workshop as well.

Abram had his best Masters showing ever (I've judged most of his Texas Masters climbs) and Miguel just didn't have his best day, so the results were as they should have been. I'm always glad when the best man wins. Those of us who have done a lot of judging and competing know it doesn't always happen!
